MAFS fans have a change of heart towards controversial groom Chris Nield after his kind gesture to wife Brook Crompton and call her the ‘real villain’

Married At First Sight fans have had a change of heart towards controversial groom Chris Nield, after he made an incredibly kind gesture towards his wife, Brook Crompton, shortly before she left him.

In a heartwarming moment during Tuesday night’s episode, the AFL player, 31, prepared a spa night for Brook, with candles, champagne, flutes and face masks in an attempt to share a sweet moment with her.

‘So, this is yours if you want it, so what are you thinking? We can do a couple of glasses of champagne and some face masks on the couch, if you want to,’ Chris told Brook.

However, Brook was not in the mood to share an intimate moment with Chris and rejected the offer.

‘No, I don’t want to,’ Brook said.

She later told producers that she appreciated Chris’ gesture, even though she did not accept.

‘He’s done something super thoughtful for me, which is really nice, even if I am not feeling it,’ Brook said.

‘I think after this morning’s chat he is not understanding where I am at. I don’t know how many times I can tell him.’

Viewers were touched by the sweet gesture of the controversial groom, who previously said ‘fat people’ were one of his turn-offs, and took to social media to praise him.

‘Soooo didn’t think I’d be feeling sorry for Chris. The lad totally humbled himself, he’s open to change, he’s quick to apologise and is actually really thoughtful. Brook the villain strikes again!’ one person wrote.

‘I didn’t think I would like Chris, but I feel for him,’ a second added.

‘Brook is a piece of work. Chris is trying, she’s just not emotionally caring or invested because she was too busy being involved with her ex,’ a third chimed in.

It comes after Brook sensationally quit the experiment this week.

Daily Mail revealed earlier this month that Brook abruptly quit the experiment, and last week revealed that she had rekindled a romance with her ex, and is now pregnant.

And those dramatic scenes played out on air on Tuesday when Brook surprisingly packed her bags, leaving groom Chris shocked and crestfallen.

After apparently bonding during Monday’s intimacy week challenge Brook admitted in an off-camera chat, with Chris that she wanted some space.

Speaking with Chris about the confrontation, Brook said: ‘I need to be a little bit selfish, you know. Take a step back, know the person I want you to be.’

Brook made reference to Chris’ slip-ups, particularly the comments he made about women in his audition video.

‘I can’t be holding your hand with the slip-ups and things. It’s a lot to deal with,’ she said.

‘I think you’ve got a lot of work to do on yourself, I’ve got a lot of work to do on myself. I’m not feeling it right now.’

Sexpert Alessandra Rampolla assigned the grooms ‘covert tasks’ to perform for their brides and Chris returned to the apartment with a renewed vigour.

‘I’d do something nice for Brook regardless, but it’s trying to reinforce the fact that I’m here and I’m doing the best that I can.’

The doting groom decided on the spa night for his bride, which Brook admitted she felt ‘overwhelmed’ by the gesture.

‘Obviously I’m feeling a little overwhelmed,’ she told producers.

‘I was looking forward to some space but he’s going out and doing this task to make me feel good.

‘I feel a little bit smothered. I’ve tried to explain that to him so many times. I don’t think he’s understanding.’

Brook went off to enjoy her bubble bath alone, leaving Chris feeling disappointed.

‘I definitely feel I’m in limbo,’ Chris said, admitting he was still hopeful that the couple could overcome the hurdle.

The gesture proved fruitless, however, with Brook sensationally packing her bags and leaving the experiment.

Married At First Sight continues at 7:30pm on Wednesday on Nine.
