MAFS’ Scott Opens Up About Relationship With Gia

Married At First Sight‘s (MAFS) Scott McCristal has opened up about his brief reality TV marriage with Gia Fleur, admitting that it’s been “hard to watch” their relationship on-screen.

At the start of the season, Scott and Gia were teeing up to become one of this 2026’s strongest matches. They were physically attracted to each other, Scott seemed to have Gia’s back during all the drama and, from what we saw in the final edit, the pair rarely clashed on-screen.

But now, with Final Vows just episodes away, it appears that Scott and Gia have *finally* decided to be their “real” selves, with daddy John Aiken thanking the couple at the final Commitment Ceremony for coming clean with their relationship woes.

To give you a quick recap, in an act of pure honesty, Scott finally revealed that he was afraid of Gia when it came to voicing his opinion about their relationship and that he felt some pressure to say “I love you” back when he wasn’t there yet. He also claimed that Gia had been calling him “every name under the sun”, which she denied at the time.

Despite the pair’s grievances, the duo decided to stick it out for the last week of the experiment, with both Gia and Scott writing “stay”.

While we know that Gia and Scott don’t last outside of the experiment — duh, she’s already moved on with a new boyfriend — the 33-year-old Queenslander admitted that they were good when they were together.

“When we’re together, and no one else is around, we’re good, but when there’s everyone else involved, and she talks about everyone else, she really vents a lot onto me,” Scott told PEDESTRIAN.TV, reflecting on their reality TV marriage and Gia’s constant involvement in the drama.

“I do have to sit there and consume a lot of energy from her and just rest it to bed until everything’s okay. I think what keeps me there is more when she talks to me and says, ‘This is not me, I want to prove to you outside the experiment I’m better than that’. Obviously, at that point in time, I believed everything she said.”

Furthermore, Scott adds that he had “mixed emotions” during the experiment and that he did develop “massive feelings for her”. However, he could tell they weren’t at the same level in their feelings for each other, which created “tension in the relationship”.

“I could tell her feelings were stronger than mine, and I know that’s what was putting tension in the relationship, because she wanted someone to have more feelings than her, and it was a massive debate,” Scott revealed.

“Everyone has a different pace in a relationship.

“People can’t fall in love at the exact same time, and it was affecting her, because I know she fell in love with me, but I wasn’t there yet, because there are a lot of things I hadn’t seen about her that I was picking up on.”

Why Gia Fleur wanted to quit Married At First Sight mid-experiment

With Scott admitting that he didn’t feel the same for Gia, he revealed that she threatened to walk from MAFS if he didn’t say it back.

“She would say to me, ‘You need to say you’re in love with me by an experiment or I’m out,’” he dished to P.TV.

“And I’m like, ‘Gia, you cannot say that to me. You just can’t’.  I’m like, ‘When you say these things to me and say you need to say this stuff, that’s when I backpedal because you’re trying to force me to say something that I don’t feel.’”

So far — at the time of writing — Gia hasn’t walked from the experiment, and Scott hasn’t dropped the L-bomb. But unfortunately, with Gia’s massive spoiler of a new BF, we know it doesn’t work out for the pair.
