
A 4.6 magnitude earthquake was recorded in the NSW Hunter Region.
The large earthquake’s epicentre hit near Singleton, 208km northwest of Sydney, but was felt by residents across Newcastle, Sydney and Canberra about 2.55am on Wednesday.
With a depth of just 10km, the seismic activity was felt by more than 2,950 people.
An initial tremor recorded the earthquake as a magnitude 5.1 event, which Geoscience Australia later amended to 4.6.
