Married At First Sight’s Luke Fourniotis admits ‘life just got sucked out of me’ as he QUITS the show after turbulent marriage to Mel Akbay

Married At First Sight groom Luke Fourniotis has sensationally admitted his time in the experiment is over, declaring: ‘I think it’s a wrap now.’
Speaking exclusively to Daily Mail at Sydney Airport – just hours after filming Sunday night’s explosive Commitment Ceremony – the 30-year-old farmer revealed he felt he had no choice but to walk away.
‘I don’t wanna leave you. But I’ve got no option,’ he said.
In a brutally honest moment, Luke reflected on the toll his relationship had taken on him.
When asked whether he believed he had been paired with the right person, he did not hesitate.
‘I feel like the life just got sucked out of me by the match I was with,’ he confessed.

Luke cut a casual yet weary figure as he prepared to board his flight home.
The groom wore a fitted khaki T-shirt that accentuated his muscular build, paired with loose charcoal-wash jeans and black sneakers.
A maroon baseball cap with pink detailing sat low over his face, while a large blue tote bag was slung over his shoulder.
He clutched a red can of Coca-Cola in one hand and rested the other on his hip beside a dark suitcase, his expression subdued and noticeably drained.
The airport dash marks a dramatic shift for Luke, who only weeks ago insisted walking away was not an option – even after bride Mel bluntly declared there was ‘no spark’ between them in front of the entire group.
In a previous interview, Luke admitted the experiment had left him feeling like ‘an absolute shadow of myself’.
Speaking exclusively to Daily Mail at the airport, Luke did not sugar-coat the situation. ‘I think it’s a wrap now,’ he said when asked if he had had enough. When pressed about why he was leaving, he added: ‘I don’t wanna leave you. But I’ve got no option’
At the airport, Luke revealed he no longer believed he had been matched with the right person. ‘Yeah, no, no, I don’t think so,’ he said when asked if he felt the pairing was correct
‘I lost my confidence and I just really didn’t like it,’ he said at the time.
Despite the public rejection, he had chosen to stay, explaining: ‘It didn’t feel right to leave the show without even giving the experts a chance.’
‘I didn’t want to leave with animosity towards Mel. I didn’t want everyone to look back at the experience and think it was just horrible.’
He also confessed hearing Mel’s comments in front of the group made him feel ‘even more vulnerable’ and ‘almost embarrassed’.
At the time, Luke remained hopeful they could strip their relationship back to basics.
‘Forget about intimacy, forget about romance,’ he said.
He then delivered a devastating assessment of how the experiment had affected him. ‘I feel like the life just got sucked out of me by the match I was with,’ he admitted
Luke also previously acknowledged how vulnerable he felt hearing Mel’s ‘no spark’ confession in front of the group
In recent weeks, viewers watched the pair struggle to find any momentum, with their relationship seemingly stuck in a cycle of awkward couch sessions and friend-zone energy.
Insiders say Sunday’s Commitment Ceremony was particularly tense, with several couples forced to confront whether their marriages were salvageable.
Married At First Sight continues Sunday at 7pm on Channel Nine.
