Miley Cyrus has addressed rumours of a family feud just weeks after Billy Ray Cyrus went public with his romance with Elizabeth Hurley.
The pop star, whose latest album Something Beautiful arrived just this week, spoke of her dad’s new boo during a recent episode of The Interview podcast hosted by David Marchese and Lulu Garcia-Navarro.
Despite previous reports that Miley was kept in the dark as to Billy’s relationship with Elizabeth — which was marked with a social media hard-launch back in April — the singer said she has now reached a place of acceptance.
“At first, it’s hard because the little kid in you reacts before the adult in you can go, ‘Yes, that’s your dad, but that’s just another person that deserves to be in his bliss and to be happy’,” Miley said (per Page Six).
“So my adult self has caught up.”
In that same spirit of reconciliation, Miley went on to confirm that her relationship with Billy is no longer estranged, after the pair reunited at her brother Braison’s birthday party last month.
If you’re unaware, the father-daughter duo have reportedly been at odds since 2022, when Billy announced his divorce from Miley’s mum, Tish Cyrus, after 30 years of marriage.
In the time since, the feud has come to include commentary from both parties and input from other members of the Cyrus brood, but it seems all of that is now just water under the bridge.
“I think timing is everything,” Miley said of the reconciliation.
“You know, there’s been enough bridges now of time to get us all reconnected.”

Miley later admitted that she “took on some of [her] mum’s hurt” during the messy divorce, but said she is now thrilled that both of them are in happy relationships.
“My mum is, like, so in love with my step dad… who I also just completely adore,” Miley said, in reference to Tish’s husband and Aussie actor Dominic Purcell, whom she married in 2023.
“And now that my dad, I see him finding happiness outside of that too, I can love them both as individuals instead of as a kind of, you know, a parental pairing,” Miley added.

I guess you could say she now gets the best of both worlds?
News of Miley and Billy’s reconciliation is music to the ears of my teenage self, who was consistently moved to tears when the pair sang “Butterfly Fly Away” in Hannah Montana: The Movie.
Fine, I’ll rewatch it for the millionth time.
