Influencer and model Josie Canseco has sparked a furious backlash for her tribute to Charlie Kirk.
Right-wing political activist Kirk was shot dead at Utah Valley University last Wednesday. He was 31.
Accused gunman Tyler Robinson, 22, is in custody in Utah for the alleged shooting after surrendering to police.
Following confirmation of Kirk’s death, Josie, 28, took to her Instagram where she branded the late media personality ‘one of the smartest humans.’
Alongside a photograph of the father-of-two holding a child, she penned: ‘Rest in paradise to one of the smartest humans of our generation. Praying for his family.’
In a separate upload, Josie – who previously dated NFL star Johnny Manziel – reposted a text post onto her story that read: ‘No matter what your beliefs are you can never be ok with someone being shot because you don’t agree with their views and political beliefs.
‘We have gone into a dangerous path and this can’t be celebrated, tolerated, or allowed from anyone, anywhere, at anytime.’
Josie’s tribute failed to land with social media users, however, with one going as far as branding her ‘delusional.’

‘Calling him smart or a hero is absolutely delusional, he was just a conservative influencer that had a hateful rhetoric,’ another said.
‘She’s not very bright is she,’ added a third.
A fourth continued: ‘I am getting such a good view of who to immediately unfollow. Just unfollowed a channel on YouTube over his Charlie Kirk tribute.’
A fifth added: ‘This is deada** gross.’
Josie is the daughter of baseball legend Jose Canseco and Jessica Canseco.
Her father Jose was married to Jessica from 1996 to 1999 after meeting her when she was a Hooters waitress in Cleveland.
On Monday morning, it was reported that Kirk’s alleged assassin Robinson wrote a note saying he was going to ‘take out’ the conservative commentator before he shot him dead.

In a separate post, Josie also shared a text tribute which called out political gun violence

According to FBI director Kash Patel, he said: ‘I have the opportunity to take out Charlie Kirk and I’m going to take it.’
‘The note was written before the shooting, it was in the suspect’s partner’s home,’ Patel said.
‘We have since learned the note – even though it was destroyed – we have found forensic evidence of the note and we have confirmed what the note said because our aggressive interview posture at the FBI.’
Patel did not clarify whether the note was hand-written or digital, or how it was recovered.
Robinson, 22, was taken into custody on Friday in connection with the assassination at Utah Valley University that shocked the world.
It’s not just Josie whose comments about Kirk have been criticized.
