Momfluencer Emilie Kiser says her son’s drowning death was ‘preventable’ as she shares pool safety message

Influencer mom Emilie Kiser admitted the drowning death of her three-year-old son was ‘preventable’ as she issued an urgent plea to parents about pool safety.

Kiser, a popular blogger, lost her toddler, Trigg, on May 18, 2025, six days after he was found unresponsive in the family’s backyard pool in Chandler, Arizona.

The 27-year-old mother gave followers an insight into the pain she has been living in ever since in a series of Instagram posts on Wednesday.

‘Today is officially ten months since we lost our son Trigg to a preventable drowning accident,’ wrote Kiser.

‘I continue to feel like I have no words in what to say when I’m asked how I feel because the only adequate word is “broken”.

‘I miss him so much. Everything about him. Especially the joy and light he brought to our home.’

Trigg was left unsupervised in the backyard for more than nine minutes on the day he died, per a Chandler police report. He spent about seven of those minutes drowning in the pool.

Kiser, who has expressed her regret over the accident multiple times since returning to social media in September, said writing out her emotions helps her grieve.

‘One of the hardest parts about the last ten months, although I can’t possibly pick just one, is having to live without him,’ she said.

‘Some people might read that as obvious, but it’s a daily mountain I have to climb.’

Kiser noted how she recognizes so much of her lost son in his younger brother, Theodore, who is about a year old.

She said she could go on for hours talking about Trigg before highlighting the importance of safety awareness.

‘It’s apparent to everyone who has ever heard HIS story, that it was preventable,’ wrote the influencer.

She urged parents to take safety measures, such as installing pool fencing, enrolling children in swimming lessons, and always supervising them around water.

A Harvard Health study found that children as young as one can learn to keep their heads above water and recover if they fall in.

Kiser’s husband, Brady, was caring for Trigg the day of his death but admitted to officials that he stepped inside to watch an NBA playoff game, on which he had placed a $25 bet on the outcome. Brady was not charged with any wrongdoing.
