Mother killed herself and two kids after failed attempt to reconcile with estranged husband, officials say

An Arkansas mother, whose body was found with that of her six-year-old twins, died by suicide, according to local officials.

Charity Beallis, 40, and her twins were found dead at their home in the community of Bonanza along the Oklahoma border on December 3, 2025.

At the time, the Sebastian County Sheriff’s Office confirmed that authorities arrived at Beallis’s home at 9.30 am to perform a wellness check. Upon entering the building, they found the mother and her twins had suffered gunshot wounds.

Now, the Arkansas State Crime Lab has ruled that the Beallis twins’ cause of death was a homicide, according to an SCSO statement.

The Sheriff’s Office also said that the 40-year-old mom had unsuccessfully tried to reconcile with her estranged husband, Dr. Randall Beallis, during their divorce and custody case.

The final hearing of their case was on December 2, the day before Charity Beallis and her twins were found dead. At the hearing, Beallis had been ordered to begin joint custody of her children.

Location data, provided to investigators by Tesla, suggested that Randall Beallis’s vehicle was not near his estranged wife’s residence on the evening of December 2. His phone was also not recorded by any cell towers in the area.

That same evening, Charity Beallis deactivated her home security system at around 10 pm, according to information shared by her alarm company with the SCSO. She had exclusive access to the security system at the time.

According to the home security company, no windows or doors were opened after 10 pm.

“SCSO has not found any evidence thus far to indicate any other conclusion other than that determined by the autopsies conducted by ASCL,” the Sheriff’s Office statement read. “However, our Office attempts to always investigate our cases as conclusively as possible.”

Beallis’s surviving son, John Powell, told KNWA that he wished that he could hold his siblings once more.

“If I could, I would give my mother a big hug and look at her in the eyes and tell her I loved her,” he said. “Hold my babies, baby brother and sister, one more time.”

Charity’s father, Randy Powell, also spoke to KNWA after his daughter’s death.

“One moment I’ll be crying and the next moment I’ll be mad, I don’t know how to explain it,” he said. “I never expected to ever have to go through something like this in my life.”

Randall Beallis pleaded guilty to a charge of third-degree battery in October, according to KNWA.

Charity Beallis had filed for divorce in March 2025. She had also filed for custody of her twins, the station also reported.

However, a day after the mom and her twins were found dead, Randall Beallis filed for the divorce to be dismissed, according to documents.

In a statement seen by The River Valley Democrat Gazette, Randall Beallis’s attorney, Michael Pierce, said that his client “continues to recover from the tragic event that took his children from him.”

“He would like to thank all of the law enforcement officials working on this case for their diligent efforts to find the truth,” Pierce continued. “We were not surprised by the findings in the autopsy, as we knew that Mr. Beallis was not responsible for the death of his wife, nor his children.”

The Independent has contacted Michael Pierce for comment.
