A horror shooting has sent shoppers scrambling for safety at a busy Westfield shopping centre in Sydney’s west.
Police were called to the centre in Mount Druitt, 43km west of the city, after reports of a brawl about 3.15pm on Saturday.
A man was reportedly shot in the abdomen by an attending officer.
A man, aged in his 20s, was treated by paramedics at the scene.
A witness told 7News he saw one man armed with a machete and another armed with a gun inside the shopping centre.
Another terrified shopper said they hid in the laser tag area.
Police remain at the scene, as of 4.40pm on Saturday.
