Much-loved teacher tragically dies sending shockwaves through tight-knit school community: ‘Far too young’

St Augustine’s College in Sydney is mourning the heartbreaking loss of one of its own, beloved teacher and 2017 graduate Harrison Foresto, who tragically passed away this week at just 26 years old.

The school community was left reeling after the news broke, with tributes pouring in for the young educator described as a ‘gentle and joyful presence’.

Harrison returned to his alma mater in 2022 to teach Technology and Visual Arts, quickly becoming a cherished figure among students and staff alike.

Known for his ever-present smile and unwavering positivity, Harrison was deeply admired for his creativity and kindness. 

‘He loved this school community and we loved him in return,’ the college said in a statement. 

‘We will miss him greatly.’

The college extended its deepest condolences to Harrison’s grieving parents, Steve and Kerrie-Ann, and his sister Emily, as well as his extended family, friends, students and colleagues.

Harrison’s cause of death has not been confirmed.

Counselling support is being offered at the school for students following the news. 

Harrison Foresto was a graduate from the Australian Catholic University (ACU), attending there between 2019 and 2022. 

Mr Foresto was a 2022 Executive Dean’s Commendations recipients, in the year he graduated from ACU.
