Nancy Guthrie investigators ‘detain four’, as neighbor claims they saw person shoot themselves in head and Range Rover is covered with sheets while cops investigate its trunk

At least four people were taken into custody by SWAT teams and FBI agents amid the ongoing hunt for Nancy Guthrie, it has been claimed.

Three people – believed to be two men and one of their mothers – were apprehended by Pima County Sheriff’s Deputies in Tucson late Friday night, roughly two miles from Nancy Guthrie’s home, according to Fox News.

A neighbor told KVOA, the local NBC affiliate, that one person shot themselves in the head during the operation, though the claim has not yet been confirmed.

Meanwhile, a silver Range Rover Sport was pulled over by the FBI during a traffic stop linked to the February 1 disappearance of Nancy, 84, and the driver was detained, Fox News reported.

The driver, whose age and gender have not been disclosed, was taken in for questioning, though it remains unclear whether they are still in custody.

Fox News said the traffic stop, which occurred close to a Culver’s fast food restaurant, was linked to Nancy’s disappearance and a search warrant carried out at a home near hers.

Images captured the SUV with its trunk open and partially covered by a white sheet while investigators inspected what was inside.

Pima County Sheriff’s Office confirmed the SWAT operation at a property two miles from Nancy’s home was tied to her disappearance, adding that the action was carried out ‘at the request of the FBI.’

Authorities said a statement was expected shortly but later confirmed the FBI requested that information remain withheld. Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos has not provided a timeline for the next update.

The update follows an extensive law enforcement operation Friday night near Nancy’s home, during which a SWAT vehicle and a heavy police presence were seen departing.

In a statement, the Pima County Police Department said: ‘Law enforcement activity is underway at a residence near E Orange Grove Rd & N First Ave related to the Guthrie case.’

During the raid last night, the home in question was the primary – and only – focus of police activity.

Some earlier reports suggested the home belonged to a former county attorney. The Pima County Sheriff’s Department clarified that these claims were ‘not accurate.’

Roughly two dozen officers, including FBI personnel, were observed standing near blocked-off streets in heavy rain, while a Pima County Sheriff’s Office plane circled overhead in the Tucson neighborhood.

Marked sheriff’s vehicles were followed by a federal evidence truck, CNN reported, while forensic teams continued to work in the area.

The raid involved officers surrounding the property and removing two detainees – a man and a woman – from the Marana residence, NewsNation reported. A second man was detained after a traffic stop.

A source told Fox News that a judge had issued a warrant for the home, though authorities have not confirmed whether the detained individuals are connected to the 84-year-old’s disappearance.

The FBI informed CNN that Nancy is still missing and that the person responsible for her disappearance has not been identified.

Sheriff Chris Nanos told AZ Family that the law enforcement action was part of investigators ‘actively working a lead’ in the Guthrie case.

The large-scale raid came just days after the FBI sought the public’s help in identifying a masked figure seen near Nancy’s home prior to her disappearance.

Doorbell camera footage released this week showed an armed individual in a ski mask and black nitrile gloves apparently attempting to disable Nancy’s doorbell camera.

Nancy, the mother of NBC Today anchor Savannah, disappeared from her $1 million home in Tucson’s Catalina Hills neighborhood in the early hours of February 1.

She was last seen in Tucson on the evening of January 31, returning home after dinner with her daughter Annie, son-in-law Tommaso Cioni and her grandchildren.

The next morning, she was reported missing when she failed to attend a virtual church service with friends, Nanos said.

Multiple ransom notes have been sent demanding up to $6 million for Nancy’s release.

Savannah Guthrie, her sister Annie and brother Camron said they were taking the notes seriously, but their contents have not been verified.

On Friday, investigators discovered that DNA found on Nancy’s property during the investigation did not belong to her family or anyone ‘close’ to her.

‘DNA other than Nancy Guthrie’s and those in close contact to her have been collected from the property,’ the sheriff’s department said, adding that investigators are working to identify who it belongs to and are not disclosing where it was found.

Investigators also found several gloves, ranging from roughly two to 10 miles away from Nancy’s home.
