
Dallas Mavericks All-Star Anthony Davis has undergone surgery to repair a detached retina.
According to ESPN’s Shams Charania, Davis suffered the injury during the season and played through several hits to his face.
Davis is expected to be fully healthy for the Mavericks’ next training camp.
Fans were stunned by the extent of the gruesome injury and shared their thoughts on social media.

The injury comes after an eventful 2025 for Davis, who was traded to Dallas by the Los Angeles Lakers during the season.
Davis made up part of the blockbuster trade that saw Luka Doncic team up with LeBron James in LA.
Having drafted Cooper Flagg with the No. 1 overall pick in the NBA Draft, Dallas will be hoping Davis and Kyrie Irving can combine with the rookie to make them serious contenders.
