NFL fans go wild for ‘game of the year’ as Brock Purdy and Caleb Williams trade touchdowns on incredible SNF

NFL fans couldn’t get enough of a wild Sunday Night Football showdown between the Bears and 49ers, with Caleb Williams and Brock Purdy trading touchdowns in a high-scoring battle.

A crazy back-and forth battle in San Francisco even broke NFL records – it was the first game in history that was tied 7-7, 14-14, 21-21, 28-28, 35-35 – before the Niners eventually came out on top 42-38 to take control of the NFC.

San Francisco now have their fate in their own hands, and are a win over the Seahawks away from sealing the No 1 seed and a home route all the way to the Super Bowl.

On social media, fans couldn’t believe their eyes as the game bounced back and forth, with both young quarterbacks showing their remarkable ability.

‘This SNF might be game of the year. Holy shootout’, one wrote, while another added: ‘A new game of the year after last week’s game of the year is crazy.’

A third noted: ‘Brock Purdy and Caleb Williams trying to break every scoring record known to man tonight.’

Incredibly, there were 484 total yards of offense in the first half alone, with TJ Edwards, Jake Tonges, Purdy (x2), Luther Burden III, Christian McCaffrey, Colston Loveland and D’Andre Swift all scoring touchdowns.

In the second half, Kyle Juszczyk got in on the act as both offenses continued to fire on all cylinders in the best Sunday Night Football game of the season.

It took until late in the fourth quarter for either defense to stop a touchdown, with the Bears left to settle for a field goal – giving them a 38-35 lead with 5:22 remaining.

Jauan Jennings then got in on the act with a touchdown to put the Niners up 42-38 with 2:15 to play… remarkably taking the total points to 80 for the game.

The Bears were given a final chance to drive down the field and win it, but Williams and his offense fell just short of the goalline in the final seconds to give the Niners a huge win.
