Skip Bayless has restarted his feud with Tom Brady, just as his former New England Patriots team head to their first Super Bowl since the iconic quarterback left in 2020.
The Patriots beat the Denver Broncos on Sunday to set up a meeting against the Seattle Seahawks in football’s showpiece game on Feb. 8 in Santa Clara, at the home of San Francisco 49ers.
Win or lose, the game marks what many believe could be the first Super Bowl of many for Patriots quarterback Drake Maye, who has led his team to the game in his first full season as signal caller and his second overall since being drafted.
That, Bayless says, will irk Brady, a six-time Super Bowl winner with the Patriots and seven overall from the course of his long career.
He wrote on X: ‘I don’t think Tom Brady loves this. I don’t think Brady’s going to love it for his legacy that some second-year starter as he was, flipped the switch right back and got the Patriots right back to the Super Bowl. I think it’ll ,in Tom’s eyes, diminish his legacy a little bit.’
In a video where he briefly underlined his thinking about Brady, Bayless added: ‘The Patriots won (against the Broncos) not because of Drake Maye’s arm… Drake Maye had 65 yards rushing and they were all the key plays of the game, they came because of Drake Maye’s legs.

‘But I think Tom Brady… will love it that Vrabel gets to a Super Bowl so quickly after Belichick was finally run out of the back door the way Brady was.
‘But I don’t think he was rooting for Drake Maye today and I definitely don’t think he’ll be rooting for him to win the Super Bowl.’
The Seahawks, led by Sam Darnold, are the favorites to win the Super Bowl over the Pats.
Bayless has been a long-standing critic of Brady, a minority owner of the Las Vegas Raiders, and blamed him for causing the NFL Draft slide that Shedeur Sanders endured in 2025 before the Browns eventually took him in round five.
Bayless insisted Sanders should have been the first pick and accused Brady of sabotaging the young quarterback’s NFL dreams.
‘It is now pretty clear Tom Brady – who mentored Shedeur – told the Raiders NOT to take Shedeur. Duly noted,’ Bayless said back in April last year.
The following month Bayless went a lot further, after Brady denied having any influence over the picks the Raiders made and mocked anyone who thought otherwise.
‘Tom, your nose is going to grow. Tom Brady on Jake Paul’s podcast blasted me for saying he obviously told Raiders GM John Spytek not to draft Shedeur,’ Bayless told his audience. ‘That’s my opinion, that’s my take and I know I’m right.
‘So I fired back at Tom Brady pointing out that Spytek is his former teammate at Michigan had said before the draft that the Raiders would be fools not to ask Tom Brady – now Raiders owner – about quarterbacks they were considering in the draft.’
