NFL referee Adrian Hill carted off after suffering nasty injury in Bills-Texans Monday Night Football clash

Referee Adrian Hill needed to be carted off the field after suffering a serious injury in the second half of the Bills’ clash with the Texans on Thursday.

With Houston leading 20-16 in the third quarter, Hill was seen running across the end zone at NRG Stadium when he suddenly began limping.

There was no one else near Hill when he was hurt midway through a play. But he was in visible pain.

Texans trainers came on to the field and helped the official toward the sidelines. He was then carted away for treatment.

The injury left the officiating team one short for the remainder of the game. Umpire Roy Ellison moved to the referee position and was tasked with working the backfield by himself.

According to KPRC Houston, Hill was taken for an MRI on his leg. He is in his seventh season as an NFL referee.

Hill was not the only one to suffer an injury on Monday night.

Bills fans were given a serious scare earlier in the game, when quarterback Josh Allen was hit from behind by Texans defensive end Will Anderson.

Allen was sent crashing to the turf – landing heavily on his front – and could immediately be seen writhing around in pain.

After receiving attention from the Bills medical team, the quarterback was able to walk to the sidelines.

He did not miss a single offensive snap.
