Nick Reiner Murder Charges: Read The DA’s Just Filed Felony Complaint Against Rob Reiner’s Son

Nick Reiner has officially been charged with two counts of first degree murder with a “special circumstance” for the December 14 stabbing deaths of his parents Rob Reiner and Michele Reiner. He could face the death penalty because of that special circumstance provision, though the LA County District Attorney said today no final decision has been made on that yet.

As unveiled earlier this afternoon, a felony complaint was just filed in the last two hours in LA Superior Court by the LA County District Attorney’s office with the claims against the 32-year-old Being Charlie co-writer. if found guilty, the younger Reiner could face life in prison without the possibility of parole or, extremely rare for California, death.

Arrested several hours after the bodies of the 78-year-old When Harry Met Sally director and his 68-year-old wife were discovered by their daughter in the Reiners’ Brentwood home this past weekend, Nick Reiner was booked for murder by the LAPD and is currently being held in custody without bail in downtown LA. Open about his struggles with addiction over the years, Nick Reiner had been living with parents again for the past several weeks.

No arraignment for Reiner to enter a plea has been set yet, but it is expected to come in the next few days. In anticipation of such a hearing and the trial likely to follow, the younger Reiner has hired noted defense attorney Alan Jackson, who has worked for the like of Karen Read and Harvey Weinstein, to represent him.

With DA Hochman stating today that the prosecution’ s evidence will be displayed at a trial, here’s the text of the three-page complaint filed Tuesday:

Count 1:

On or about December 14, 2025, in the County of Los Angeles, the crime of MURDER, &i
violation of PENAL CODE SECTION l 87(a), a Felony, was committed by NICK REINER, who did unlawfully, and with malice aforethought murder MICHELE REINER a human being.
“NOTICE: The above offense is a serious felony within the meaning of Penal Code Section 1192.7(c) and a violent felony within the meaning of Penal Code Section 667.S(c).”
NOTICE: Upon a felony conviction for the above offense, prison custody time is to be served in state prison based upon the above felony offense being a serious felony defined in Penal Code section 1192.7 and/or violent felony defined in Penal Code section 667.S(c), or a felony offense requiring registration as sex offender pursuant to Penal Code section 290(c), within the meaning of Penal Code section l l 70(h)(3).

Count 2:

On or about December 14, 2025, in the County of Los Angeles, the crime of MURDER, in violation of PENAL CODE SECTION 187(a), a Felony, was committed by NICK REINER, who did unlawfully, and with malice aforethought murder ROBERT REINER, a human being.
“NOTICE: The above offense is a serious felony within the meaning of Penal Code Section 1192.7(c) and a violent felony within the meaning of Penal Code Section 667.5(c).”
NOTICE: Upon a felony conviction for the above offense, prison custody time is to be served in state prison based upon the above felony offense being a serious felony defined in Penal Code section 1192.7 and/or violent felony defined in Penal Code section 667.5(c), or a felony offense requiring registration as sex offender pursuant to Penal Code section 290(c), within the meaning of Penal Code section l 170(h)(3)

It is further alleged as to count(s) I and 2 that the offenses charged in counts I and 2 are a special circumstance within the meaning of Penal Code Section 190.2(a)(3).

It is further alleged as to count(s) I and 2 that in the commission and attempted commission of the above offense, the said defendant(s), NICK REINER, personally used a deadly and dangerous weapon(s), to wit, knife, said use not being an element of the above offense, within the meaning of Penal Code Section 12022(b)(1) and causing the above offense to be a serious felony within the meaning of Penal Code section 1 l 92.7(c)(23).
