Olivia Rodrigo threw it back to the ’80s this weekend to jam out with a new wave legend.
During her Saturday performance at Governors Ball in New York City, the 3x Grammy winner was joined onstage by Talking Heads frontman David Byrne for a surprise performance of the band’s 1983 single ‘Burning Down the House’ for the crowd at Flushing Meadows—Corona Park.
The British rocker matched Rodrigo’s red performance look in a pair of matching overalls as they playfully re-enacted the choreography to the song.
Byrne’s surprise appearance comes after the Talking Heads were introduced to a new generation of fans with A24‘s 40th anniversary re-release of their 1984 concert film Stop Making Sensewhich grossed more than $5 million domestically after a limited run in 2023.
Rodrigo’s Governors Ball gig comes amid her ongoing Guts World Tour, which kicked off in February 2024 and next stops at Marlay Park in Dublin, Ireland on June 24.
