One dead and four others fighting for life as horror fire rips through a Lawnton home, Moreton Bay

One person is dead and four others are fighting for their life after a horror house fire north of Brisbane.

First responders found two teenagers, a boy and a girl, and a man and a woman in their 30s on the front lawn of the property.

They were rushed to the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital in a critical condition.

Emergency services were called to Darcy Way at Lawnton in Queensland’s Moreton Bay region shortly after 5.30am Sunday.

The blaze was so fierce that the roof had partially collapsed by the time firefighters arrived, with neighbouring properties evacuated as the fire department worked to contain the blaze.

Firefighters confirmed one person died at the scene.

Neighbours were evacuated from their homes but were allowed to return just before 7am.

Emergency services remain at the scene.

Enes Seferovic from the Queensland Fire Department said the heat from the fire was intense.

‘When we when we arrived we have seen a number of four casualties on the front lawn, with one person confirmed missing inside,’ he said.

‘Our crews went into into action, and obviously we couldn’t get them in time.’

A crime scene has been declared and investigations are under way into the cause of the fire.

Authorities have closed off the road in both directions as they continue to contain the blaze and to begin their investigations.

More to come.
