UK police are examining claims of abuse in the Epstein files allegedly involving Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor.
The US Department of Justice has been publishing a massive haul of emails, memos, photographs, FBI tips, interviews and court documents related to the late paedophile, Jeffrey Epstein.
Among the material is a heavily redacted FBI document that details claims by a 35-year-old that they were abused by a “paedophile ring” in Surrey – south-west of London – in the mid-1990s, when they were aged between six and eight.
Concerns have been raised about the validity of claims in the Epstein files. This week, the DoJ said the files contained “untrue and sensationalist claims” about US President Donald Trump.
In the FBI document, the individual claimed they were restrained on a table and “tortured with electrical shocks” by Epstein accomplice Ghislaine Maxwell, who is serving a 20-year sentence for sex trafficking, while the then-Prince Andrew and other men allegedly watched on.
They also alleged they were hit by a dark blue car that was being driven by Andrew, the former Duke of York, outside one of the alleged parties in Surrey.
The individual also claimed to have been molested at Epstein’s house in Florida.
The allegations are not proven. Surrey Police said it could find no evidence they were reported to the force.
A police spokesman said: “Following a review of our systems using the limited information available to us, we can find no evidence of these allegations being reported to Surrey Police.
“We are therefore engaging with relevant agencies to obtain access to the redacted information.
“We take all reports of child abuse seriously and encourage anyone with information in relation to these allegations to report this to us.”
The Surrey force would not confirm what agencies it was seeking information from. The Times of London reported it would contact the FBI.
The document containing the allegations was one of 11,000 published by the US department of justice on Monday.
It emerged on Wednesday that more than 1 million more documents “potentially related” to the case have been uncovered and are expected to be published at a later point.
In the FBI document, the complainant’s name, date of birth, phone number and address are all redacted.
At the time of the alleged incidents, Andrew was still serving in the Royal Navy. He was also navigating the end of his marriage to Sarah Ferguson, with their divorce finalised in 1996.
The Epstein files include multiple unproven claims of criminality involving Andrew, who was stripped of his royal titles this year over his friendship with Epstein.
Files published early this week revealed that Andrew asked Maxwell to find him some “inappropriate friends”.
In another exchange, Maxwell asked an unknown recipient whether Andrew could be set up with “fun girls” during a royal trip to Peru.
He has always denied any wrongdoing in relation to Epstein or Maxwell.
