Reese Witherspoon, Chris Pine to Narrate Gone Before Goodbye Audiobook

Reese Witherspoon and Chris Pine lead the voice cast for the audiobook version of “Gone Before Goodbye,” the Oscar winner’s debut novel she co-wrote with bestselling mystery author Harlan Coben.

Witherspoon will star as Maggie McCabe, the novel’s main protagonist, while Pine plays her husband Marc. The voice cast also includes Saskia Maarleveld, Peter Ganim, Suehyla El-Attar Young, Kiff VandenHeuvel and James Fouhey. The audiobook of “Gone Before Goodbye” will publish in the U.K. via Penguin Audio on Oct. 23 and in the U.S. via Hachette Audio on Oct. 14.

“Gone Before Goodbye” follows Maggie McCabe, a highly skilled Army combat surgeon who has always lived life on the edge. “Upside down after a devastating series of tragedies leads to her medical license being revoked, Maggie has lost her purpose, but not her nerve or her passion. At her lowest point, she is thrown a lifeline by a former colleague, an elite plastic surgeon whose anonymous clientele demand the best care money can buy, as well as absolute discretion,” the book’s official synopsis reads.

“Halfway across the globe, sequestered in the lap of luxury and cutting-edge technology, one of the world’s most mysterious men requires unconventional medical assistance. Desperate, and one of the few surgeons in the world skilled enough to take this job, Maggie enters his realm of unspeakable opulence and fulfills her end of the agreement. But when the patient suddenly disappears while still under her care, Maggie must become a fugitive herself — or she will be the next one who is… Gone Before Goodbye.”

Witherspoon said that bringing “Gone Before Goodbye” “to life as an audiobook has truly been a labor of love for me. I’m so proud of the one-of-a-kind recording we created — with every detail carefully chosen to make this story feel special. I can’t wait for you to hear the incredible cast and get swept away by all the twists and turns. I hope you love listening as much as we loved making it.”
