Revealed: British influencer arrested on Majorca for ‘trying to kill husband by drugging his wine after pressuring him to get life insurance’

A British influencer who allegedly tried to kill her husband by drugging his wine after pressuring him to get life insurance has been pictured.

Amanda Jeffrey, 45, was arrested on suspicion of poisoning her businessman partner Victor in Majorca on Wednesday.

Police detained the author, who has almost 400,000 Instagram followers, only a few months after she gushed about her husband in a post celebrating their wedding anniversary.

Images published by Spanish media show Ms Jeffrey in handcuffs being escorted into a courthouse in Palma on Thursday by two police officers.

Earlier this year, Victor was admitted to the hospital for three days, where tests determined that he had tranquilisers in his system.

On release, he went to the police station alleging his wife had poisoned him on January 10.

Recounting the moment he alleges he was drugged, Victor told officers: ‘She filled two wine glasses and told me: “Drink from this one, my glass, it has more”.’

After tasting the drink, he complained it tasted bad, according to Spanish news outlet Ultima Hora, but claimed that Ms Jeffrey insisted he finish it all.

Victor subsequently fell into a deep sleep and was admitted to the hospital, where tests came back saying he had ingested a significant quantity of two types of sedative drugs.

When questioned by the medical staff, he denied taking anything.

Victor had a will and had named his brother as executor, but Ms Jeffrey had allegedly been pressuring him to take out life insurance policies, according to a statement he gave to the police’s Family and Women’s Unit, which took charge of the investigation.

Following her husband’s allegations, Ms Jeffrey was brought before a court in Palma on Thursday evening, where the judge released her with a restraining order.

In Spain, such orders often prevent the person under investigation from going within 200 to 500 metres of the alleged victim and communicating with them.

She is yet to make any public comment on the allegations.

Ms Jeffrey is a Spanish national but has a British parent, the Daily Mail understands.

She is a respected English teacher and author and has made regular appearances on Spanish talk shows, through which she has amassed a large social media following.

The Brit often shares videos on her platform of herself teaching English.

In 2014, she made a documentary called ‘Mallorca No Es Magaluf’ (Majorca Is Not Magaluf), exploring the island’s authentic culture in an attempt to move away from the stereotypes often associated with the tourist destination.

She has also written columns for an English-speaking local newspaper, the Majorca Daily Bulletin.

Her arrest comes just months after she gushed about her husband in an Instagram post celebrating their wedding anniversary.

Sharing a picture of herself in a white dress holding her husband’s hand, Ms Jeffrey captioned the post: ‘6 years married. Still standing. Still loving. Still us. Through sickness and in health…Always. Forever. Us.’

Police are understood to still be investigating the case.

The couple live in Palma and have a young son together.
