Robert Irwin has taken to social media to apologise after realising he accidentally dined at a Coffs Harbour restaurant without paying… crikey!
The beloved TV personality issued the apology on Instagram on Sunday, addressing it to the The Jetty Pavilion where he dined while road tripping along the east coast over the weekend.
Explaining the mistaken dine and dash, Irwin said he was ordering a takeaway salad from the restaurant (couldn’t be me) when he became distracted by a “frenzy” of fans.
“I went in there, and there were a lot of people who said g’day, and wanted to have a photo,” Irwin said, likely speaking about fans still thirsty from *that* Bonds campaign.
“But it turned into a bit of a frenzy … It was a bit of a flurry there for a moment.”
Amid the fanfare, Irwin said The Jetty Pavilion “got the salad done super fast” as he made sure to say “hi to absolutely everyone”.
In an accidentally criminal turn of events, Irwin said, “The next morning I wake up and realise, I never paid for my salad! I just did the old dine and dash and didn’t even realise.”

The I’m A Celebrity host quickly reached out to the restaurant to fix up the mishap with his card details, but they told him to “leave us a good review” instead.
“I’ll do you one better,” Irwin said.
“There are eight million of you guys on here [Instagram]. Go and support the Jetty Pavilion. They are the absolute best.”
“I apologise again. Today is not the day I start my life of crime, as much as the tabloids would love that,” he added.
Responding to Irwin’s post, Jetty Pavilion’s Instagram account told him not to stress about the unpaid item and instead thanked him for giving a shout out to the venue.
Only Robert Irwin can charm his way from accidental thief to valued customer.
“Being from a humble little coastal town, it means the world to us to have you stop by,” the restaurant wrote.
The venue also revealed on their Instagram Stories that the menu item in question was a harvest salad bowl that cost $26, which is perhaps the most criminal part of the whole story.

“We’d absolutely love to have you back anytime,” they continued. “We might even have to name a salad after you.”
To really capitalise on the shout out, Jetty Pavilion should hang those thief posters you see in shops, but instead of CCTV footage it’s just a pic of Irwin draped in a snake in his underwear.
