Carhartt and Salomon are picking up where they left off. The two brands have reunited for a second collaboration, this time reworking Salomon’s X-ALP silhouette into a rugged, utility-forward sneaker that underscores their shared obsession with performance, durability and elevated design.
The new X-ALP Carhartt WIP pushes this shared vision even further. Built for demanding environments, the shoe pairs robust grainy leather with suede overlays, anchored by Salomon’s trail-ready construction and finished with Carhartt WIP’s signature camouflage accents. The shoe will be available to shop on salomon.com, carharrt.com and select retailers starting Dec. 18.
Alongside the launch, the brands released a sci-fi campaign video directed by Bailey Marklew. Set in a remote research outpost destabilized by electromagnetic anomalies and warped gravity, the narrative unfolds as scientists attempt to uncover a hidden force — an unseen creature signaled only by writhing, thread-like tendrils. somewhere stranger.
Carhartt WIP, founded as a European offshoot of the 135-year-old American workwear label, has long been embraced by the Hollywood set. Figures like A$AP Rocky, Rihanna and Jason Momoa have been spotted in Carhartt gear over the years. Salomon, meanwhile, has enjoyed a sustained fashion crossover moment, with its trail sneakers worn by everyone from Bella Hadid and Timothée Chalamet to stylists and set designers.
Salomon has also leaned into that crossover through high-profile collaborations with brands like Maison Margiela, MM6 and Comme des Garçons. Carhartt, meanwhile, has partnered with the likes of Junya Watanabe, A.P.C. and Nike, among others.
