San Francisco 49ers great Vernon Davis accused of attacking woman during abortion dispute

Former Super Bowl winner Vernon Davis has been accused of attacking a woman last year after an argument over an abortion broke out between the pair, according to a report.

The woman, who has not been identified, has filed a criminal complaint against Davis, 41, alleging that he hit her with books and magazines during the dispute at his home last May.

She claimed that she was with the former San Francisco 49ers star in his room on May 31 when a disagreement broke out over her pregnancy, according to the complaint obtained by TMZ

She alleged that the retired tight end ‘was hitting me w/ magazines + books from under his TV.’ She further claimed that Davis offered her $10,000.

However, Davis is said to have suddenly stopped his assault after she allegedly pulled out her phone to record the incident.

A warrant for Davis’s arrest was issued on January 8 for assault and battery charges. He has a court date slated for February.

The woman further claimed that just days after the dispute, on June 7, another argument broke out between the pair after she accused Davis of lying.

She alleged that as she sat down on the couch next to Davis he slapped her on the face and told her ‘not to question him.’

Later that night, in a conversation she reportedly recorded, Davis told her, ‘If I really slapped you, your face would be blue/black.’

The woman also claimed that there had been a separate physical altercation with Davis that left her with visible bruises. She said that incident occurred before the May 31 dispute and before she discovered that she was pregnant.

She noted there is an open strangulation and assault case regarding that matter.

Davis was drafted by the 49ers with the sixth over all pick in the 2006 NFL Draft, after having played college football for Maryland Terrapins, earning first-team All-American honors.

In 2015, he was traded to the Denver Broncos, where he won Super Bowl 50. He went on to sign with the Washington Redskins in 2016, where he played for four seasons before retiring in 2020.

Following his NFL career, Davis has shifted to acting and other business ventures.

He has starred in the crime thriller The Ritual Killer and comedy movie Plan B, as well as competing on Dancing With The Stars and serving as a judge on ABC’s BattleBots and Fox’s Domino Masters.

Davis’s younger brother Vontae Davis also played in the NFL, enjoying stints with the Miami Dolphins, Indianapolis Colts and Buffalo Bills.

Vontae abruptly retired from the NFL in the middle of the Bills’ second game of the 2018 season, removing himself from the game at halftime.

The former cornerback died in April 2024 at the age of 35 after he was found slumped naked on the floor of his gym, having collapsed after taking a shocking cocktail of drugs.

A medical examiner’s report revealed that Vontae – ‘a known illicit drug user’ who was known to exhibit ‘erratic behavior’ – was declared dead at the scene.

There was no evidence of a break in and nothing was disturbed at the $4 million mansion in upscale Southwest Ranches, where Gisele Bundchen, Dwayne Johnson and fellow football star Tyreek Hill all have homes.

There were lacerations to his face and elbow, as well as evidence that his body was subjected to ‘heat related changes’. But these injuries were listed as ‘postmortem’ and likely happened when he collapsed and hit the floor next to his indoor sauna, the report suggests.

Vontae’s blood tested positive for various narcotics including methamphetamines, amphetamines, cannabinoids, THC, MDMA and MDA. There were drugs scattered around his house, according to a police report, including cannabis gummies, brown powders and various pink and clear capsules.

Over one year on from his death, Vernon shared an emotional statement last July, saying that he would do anything to bring him back.

Taking to Instagram, Vernon wrote: ‘When I lost my brother, I wanted to give up everything I had – my success, my peace, even my future – just to bring him back.

‘No amount of fame or money could fill that hole. I’d trade it all for one more laugh, one more hug, one more day’.
