Scottish teenager Lennon Miller seals sensational five-year deal with Udinese as he finally completes £4.75million switch from Motherwell
Lennon Miller has completed his stunning £4.75m move from Motherwell to Udinese.
The deal to sign the Scotland international was confirmed by the Italian club after he passed a medical.
And the Lanarkshire outfit’s fee will smash the £2.75m they received from Celtic for David Turnbull five years ago.
Udinese claimed they had secured ‘one of the brightest young talents in European football’ in Miller, while the 18-year-old said an emotional goodbye to Motherwell fans as news of his move came through.
‘All I’ve ever known is Motherwell and for it all to change so quickly will be difficult, but I’m looking forward to it,’ he said. ‘Everbody has been great at the club. The manager, the fans and the players, I want to thank them.’
Udinese posted on X: ‘One of the brightest young talents in European football joins Udinese. A modern midfielder, capable of combining technique, vision and character, he arrives from Motherwell on a five-year contract.’

The buzz around Miller has been incessant, including constant links with the Old Firm
Despite long-standing speculation linking with him both sides of the Old Firm and some late interest from Ipswich, Miller always had his heart set on moving overseas.
He joins the growing list of Scots plying their trade in Italy.
This coming season, he’ll come up against Napoli pair Scott McTominay and Billy Gilmour – both title winners last year while the former was also nominated for the Ballon d’Or – as well as Torino’s Che Adams and Sassuolo’s Josh Doig. Liam Henderson has just joined Serie B outfit Sampdoria.
Miller made 76 senior appearances for Motherwell and helped them finish eighth in the table last season after earning the captaincy. That led to him winning full international caps against Iceland and Liechtenstein at the end of the season.
He didn’t play at the start of this this season, with the club adamant he was carrying a minor knock.
Udinese, who finished 12th in Italy last season, begin their season on Monday against Carrarese in the Coppa Italia.
Miller might well be joined at the club by his fellow Scot, the Bristol City midfielder Ross McCrorie.

Firmly established in the side at Ashton Gate, the 27-year-old has interest from fellow Championship side Norwich City, but it’s the Serie A outfit who are prepared to pay the £3.5m asking price.
Along with Miller, Udinese have identified him as another key player in their plans of pushing for a European place this season.
The former Rangers and Aberdeen player joined City in 2023 after three years at Aberdeen. He was part of Steve Clarke’s Scotland squad at last year’s European Championships.
Udinese, who are managed by German boss Kosta Runjaic, already boast former Aston Villa forward Keinan Davis and one-time Celtic striker Vakoun Issouf Bayo in their squad.
