In 2007, Britney Spears suffered a harrowing breakdown after exhibiting worrying behavior in the months leading up to her infamous psychiatric hold.
The then 25-year-old popstar had fans concerned after she shaved her head and attacked a paparazzi’s car with a green umbrella – before checking into a rehab facility.
The Toxic singer, 43, suffered another setback after a disastrous performance at the 2007 MTV Video Music Awards, where her performance of Gimme More was heavily criticized by both fans and critics alike.
Then, in January 2008, she was put under lockdown at a facility after refusing to hand her young son over to ex-husband Kevin Federline.
While Spears became a punchline for many late-night talk shows, a recently-resurfaced video shows a collection of celebrities defending the troubled singer.
The compilation, which was shared to Reddit, showed an array of famous faces being asked about Spears’ wellbeing before offering their thoughts and advice.
Beyonce appeared on 60 Minutes Australia, responding to reporter Liam Bartlett comparing her life to Spears’, who is the same age.
‘People handle different things differently, and thank God I’ve been surrounded by honesty,’ she said. ‘And thank God I’ve chosen to still be around people that I trust. And it’s really difficult when you’re a celebrity to know the difference.’

The next clip featured Kim Kardashian, who suggested the Circus singer go spend time with her family.
‘I think everyone’s given their advice you know? And I think that the only thing I could ever say is just to go home, you know? Go be with your family and you’ll figure it out. There’s that Britney deep inside that’s still there, so she’ll figure it out,’ the reality star and mogul urged.
Fellow performer Taylor Swift answered the question on a red carpet saying she ‘wants her to win.’
‘I want Britney to take the world over again, and I think a lot of people do too,’ the Eras tour singer replied.
Former Spice Girl Mel C and actor Josh Harnett appeared on Graham Norton’s late night show in 2007, batting off the talk show host’s attempts to make fun of the singer.
‘I feel bad for her, she needs to be looked after,’ Mel replied.
‘Well if she wasn’t a famous singer she probably would be in care,’ Graham interjected.
In response, Harnett called out the paparazzi, saying: ‘Come on, the paparazzis really done it to her haven’t they?’
‘She’s kind of surrounded, constantly,’ he pointed out.
Mel agreed, adding: ‘Obviously, we see so much, we read so much, we don’t know how much of it is true.’

Ahead of Spears’ 2007 VMAs performance, Megan Fox spoke about her excitement on the red carpet, telling the reporter: [I’m] lucky enough to be here for her comeback [I] feel like she’s going to kill it, she’s a great performer so I think she’s going to do well.’
Actress and model Jaime King empathetically replied with: ‘I don’t have any advice for her because I’m not her.
‘I don’t know what it’s like to be a child star and make $350 million and the biggest pop success ever and be a young mom and go through a divorce,’ she pointed out. ‘I don’t know what it’s like to be her. So I can’t give somebody advice when I haven’t been through it.
‘All I can say is that I sympathize with her and I’m her biggest advocate and I want her to have a comeback, and I don’t mean a comeback and I don’t even need a comeback as far as being a pop star, I just want her to come back and be healthy, happy and be able to be a mom and maybe get outside of this. I would love for her to get away from this,’ she said.
In 2021, it looked as thought the hitmaker was going to be entering in a new chapter after she was released from a 14-year conservatorship that many interpreted as imprisoning her against her will.
Spears had claimed her conservatorship was ‘abusive,’ yet her father insisted was to protect her wellbeing, insisting his daughter ‘would be dead’ without his intervention.
After detailing how she was made to work against her will, forced into taking birth control and had no control over seeing her sons or friends, fans launched a #FreeBritney campaign, and rejoiced in their idol’s eventual emancipation.
However, last year after exhibiting public displays of erratic behavior and meltdowns, including pictured barefoot and topless outside the Chateau Marmont, left some people questioning if she is any better off.
The star had also been in a high-profile on-and-off romance with ex-felon Paul Soliz, whom she met in 2023 when he began working at her home in a housekeeping and maintenance capacity.
The romance came after her divorce from Sam Asghari, whom she married in 2022, but separated from after 14 months of marriage he filed for divorce. The pair reached a settlement in May 2024.
Spears shared two children: sons Preston, 19, and Jayden, 18, with ex-husband Kevin Federline.
