Simone Biles makes shock switch to new sport amid rumors she could U-turn on retirement for LA Olympics in 2028

While Simone Biles has refused to rule out a return to the world of gymnastics for the LA Olympics in 2028, her current attention is on a different sport altogether.

The 28-year-old, widely regarded as one of the best Olympians of all-time, has become obsessed with a whole new passion in her retirement.

After building her dream home in Texas with NFL star husband Jonathan Owens, the Columbus, Ohio native is leaning into the southern culture… by learning how to ride a horse.

Biles has become obsessed with her new love, regularly posting about her time at the stables and the lessons she is receiving every week near her home in Spring.

On Tuesday night, the gymnast posted a new series of photos, including her walking her horse around the yard.

In one photo, captioned ‘me, pony’ with a handshake emoji between them, Biles can be seen grinning at the animal between rides.

‘Another day, another horseback riding lesson,’ was a previous caption on a picture she posted, as well as a photo of herself in jodhpurs and riding boots.

It is currently among the busiest times of the year for her man – now of the Chicago Bears – and Biles is seemingly filling her time without him by learning a new skill.

While it’s unlikely she’ll reach Olympic levels in this discipline, Biles’ natural athletic capabilities are sure to help her as she continues her lessons.

It has been a whirlwind few weeks for the gymnastics legend, who recently enjoyed a vacation in Australia, and was last week in the crowd at the US Open in New York.

While she remains at her and Owens’ Texas base for the moment, it appears she will head to Illinois during the season, with Biles recently revealing they have found themselves a Chicago home for during the season.

Their long-term base is still understood to be the lakefront mansion they built from scratch in Texas, with Biles keeping fans up to date of the progress throughout the build.

This season, Owens – the backup safety for the Bears – will earn $1.36m base salary, per Spotrac.

Just last month, meanwhile, Biles dropped a tantalizing clue that she might not be done with the Olympics just yet, while speaking at the Ready25 conference in Australia.

Asked directly if she’d consider competing in LA, the American superstar said simply: ‘Never say never.’

The remark has sparked a wave of excitement among fans, with many now hoping that Biles will return for a fourth Olympics – and this time, on home soil.

Her form in Paris 2024 was dominant. She won gold in the team, all-around, and vault competitions, bringing her total to seven career Olympic golds.
