A Snoop Dogg lookalike had scores of AFL fans duped over the weekend, when he took to the streets of Melbourne to coincide with the actual rapper’s headlining grand final performance.

Snoop Dogg (the real one) took to the stage at the Melbourne Cricket Ground yesterday amid a flurry of controversy, providing the soundtrack as the Brisbane Lions bested the Geelong Cats by 47 points.
Capitalising on his doppelganger being in town, famed Snoop impersonator Eric Finch began cruising around the suburb of Richmond, arriving in style in a red Cadillac emblazoned with the words “Cali by Snoop”.
Footage of Finch’s joyride — which took him to the local BWS on Swan Street — sees him causing quite a tizzy as onlookers mistake him for the real deal, snapping photos with him as he arrived at bars unannounced and shouted drinks to starstruck customers.
While you could chalk the stunt down to pure coincidence, it turns out Finch’s Melbourne mischief was part of a guerilla marketing campaign to promote 19 Crimes, a wine brand endorsed by the real Snoop — and we all fell for it hook, line and sinker!
“Oh, it was dope,” Finch told Mumbrella of his joyride. “It’s a brilliant idea and the concept is amazingly thought out, and the way they’ve done it was just like, it’s genius.”
But the mischief didn’t stop there.
Hours after the real Snoop’s grand final set, Finch met up with the rapper during his post-match party at Ms Collins in Melbourne’s CBD.
The pair were seen posing for photos together for a lil’ slice of Snoop-ception, finally putting to bed any lingering speculation that they are the same person.
Snoop’s AFL show went ahead despite rumours it might be pulled following controversy over his past homophobic comments.
He was joined during the performance by Australia’s sweetheart Jessica Mauboy, as well as fellow homegrown stars Tash Sultana and Baker Boy.
Finch was not present on stage, probably because he was still in the car park of a BWS.
