Tara Reid files police report after horrific video of her slumped over wheelchair at Chicago bar

Tara Reid has filed a police report after claiming she was drugged inside a Chicago hotel bar – a terrifying ordeal captured in horrific footage showing the star slumped over in a wheelchair before being rushed to the hospital.

The Rosemont Public Safety Department announced Tuesday that the actress officially filed the report, with Reid making it clear she’s willing to prosecute anyone allegedly involved.

A representative for Reid told the Daily Mail: ‘Tara Reid has filed a police report after an incident in which she believes her drink was tampered with.

‘She is cooperating fully with the investigation. Tara is recovering and asks for privacy during this traumatic time. 

‘She also urges everyone to be careful, watch your drinks and never leave them unattended, as this can happen to anyone. She will not be making further comments at this stage.’

The move comes just days after the star claimed she was drugged and left unconscious in the early hours of Sunday morning.

Alarming video shows the American Pie actress, 50, slumped over as she’s placed into a wheelchair before being taken away on a stretcher to a nearby hospital. 

She can be seen speaking incoherently to the people helping her, at one point slipping off the wheelchair as security tries to maneuver her through a hotel lobby.

Reid is eventually helped back into the chair before paramedics load her onto a stretcher and take her away.

Reid claimed she checked into the hotel on late Saturday and went to the bar downstairs for a drink, per TMZ.

She ordered a beverage and then went outside to smoke a cigarette. 

As she walked through the lobby, she claims she crossed paths with a number of YouTubers, and one of them joined her outside for the smoke. 

A napkin was covering Reid’s drink when she returned to the bar, she claimed – however she says she never placed the napkin atop her beverage.  

Reid then says she took the napkin off the cup and proceeded to consume the beverage. 

But then, the outlet writes, ‘the next thing she remembers, she was in the hospital.’ 

Reid has struggled with substance abuse in the past however she insisted to TMZ she only had one drink on Sunday night. 

The person who recorded the video told TMZ that prior to the arrival of paramedics, Reid was screaming, ‘You don’t know who I am. I am famous. I’m an actress.’

Speaking with TMZ on Monday, Reid detailed the alleged incident and revealed she had not yet filed a police report nor was fully aware of what measures were done at the hospital to confirm she had been drugged. 

‘So I got to the hotel, I checked in, and then I went downstairs to have a drink and have a cigarette, and I got my drink and I left it at the bar, and I went outside, smoked a cigarette, and there was a bunch of YouTubers there in the lobby, like everywhere. And they’re videotaping stuff and, you know, everything. It was just weird,’ she said. 

‘And I went back to the bar, and my drink was covered up with a napkin. And I thought, “that was weird,” cause I never put that over my drink. And then I drank my drink and without even finishing my drink, I just passed out. And before I knew it, I was in the hospital, eight hours later.’

When asked if any tests were done to determine the drugs or if a blood alcohol test was conducted, she said, ‘No, they just said that, “You were drugged.” That’s what they said. They said, “you got drugged last night at the bar.”‘ 

When asked if anything was tested to determine what drug it was, she said, ‘No, I didn’t ask. It was all kind of vague. It was all like very blurry, do you know what I mean?… I can’t even explain it because I don’t even know what happened.’

‘The odd thing, to me is, that if you’re going to the hospital in an unconscious state, it would seem they’d want to know what drug it was to know how to deal with it and treat you,’ Harvey Levin said.

‘I don’t know,’ Reid said. ‘Cause I was unconscious, so I don’t know what they did, you know what I mean?

‘I mean, I had someone, a lady sitting next to the room with me, you know, watching over me. At one point, she was Mexican, I mean one point I thought I was in Mexico, ’cause she wasn’t speaking English. And I was like, “what is going…”, I was so confused what was happening. And then my agent came and picked me up and then we went to a signing, we did it and left. I came back home.

‘It was just a big blur,’ she continued.

‘Have you filed a police report? Do you intend to? Are you going to try to… I mean, there’s certainly probably surveillance videos, I would imagine in this hotel lobby that might reveal what happened,’ Charles Latibeaudiere asked.

‘Yeah, absolutely. Absolutely,’ Reid said. ‘I mean, this just happened. I just got back last night, so I mean this is all just happening right now. It’s really scary, you guys, I mean the whole thing is really scary.

‘I’m just glad that I was in a public place, you know what I mean? Like, and there was security there to help me, cause I mean, if this happened at… not a public place, I mean you could get raped,’ she said, stuttering the word ‘public’ several times. ‘You could get… a lot of things could go really, really, really wrong.’

Levin said his antennae popped up when Reid had mentioned having a single drink due her previous struggles with substance abuse and asked if she saw herself as someone who is now able to regulate their drinking.

‘Oh yeah, absolutely. I mean, I only had a drink of wine. I don’t drink hard liquor or anything like that at all. I just had a glass of wine and a cigarette and that was it… didn’t expect that to happen at all!’

In 2008 Reid sought help for substance abuse at Promise’s rehab in Malibu.

‘Rehab saved my life,’ she told In Touch in 2009. ‘Before I used to think about tomorrow and I hated it. Now I can’t wait because I am clean and sober and I am excited.’

The latest incident comes shortly after Daily Mail learned that Reid split from boyfriend of six years, 43-year-old music producer Nathan Montpetit-Howar.

The former American Pie cast member broke it off after she felt the romance had ‘run its course’ and become ‘bad for her.’

She attended the launch of ARTISA in Los Angeles earlier this month,  with a friend telling Daily Mail: ‘She looked single and ready to mingle.’ 

‘Tara is not crying into her pillow at home. She is in a good place,’ the friend said. 

The source added, ‘I’ve not seen her this happy in years and it really shows in her smile, the way she carries herself, her energy, everything about her is just lighter and brighter!

‘I’m so proud of her she’s getting Best Actress Awards left and right, she’s producing her own movies, she’s embracing her new energy as a woman who really knows what she wants. She’s making great decisions including becoming single and embracing it.’

It was added that the romance had not been the best in recent months.

‘I think a lot of times women get trapped in bad relationships and they just let it drag them down endlessly, that definitely happened to her but she was strong enough and loved herself enough to say Not Anymore!’ added the pal.

‘She walked away because she knows she deserves better.’

Reid rose to fame in the late nineties, particularly for her role as Vicky Lathum in the American Pie film series. 

She is also known for roles in films like The Big Lebowski, Josie & The Pussycats and the Sharknado movies.

Tara has spoken about having cosmetic surgery in the past. Back in 2004, she had a joint liposuction-breast enhancement operation which went wrong.

She previously said of the procedure: ‘I got lipo because even though I was skinny, I wanted – I’m not going to lie – a six-pack.

‘I had body contouring, but it all went wrong. My stomach became the most ripply, bulgy thing.’

Due to her naturally thin frame, she has previously faced eating disorders rumours.

‘I have no anorexia and never have,’ she told the Los Angeles Inquisitor in a past interview.

‘And I definitely don’t have any bulimia. I’m terrified of throwing up, so that’s not gonna happen. And I love food too much.’

The star also described speculation about her weight as a form of bullying, saying: ‘So anyone that says I’m anorexic or bulimic, they’re wrong. So stop it.

‘Leave me alone. Pick on me again on something else, but not on those two things. It’s not right.’

Along with her film roles, Tara has also done reality TV. She appeared on Celebrity Big Brother UK in 2011 where she became good friends with former X Factor stars Jedward.

In 2023, she appeared on Special Forces: World’s Toughest Test, a quasi-military training series alongside the likes of Blac Chyna, Brian Austin Green and Jack Osbourne.
