If you thought the drama surrounding It Ends With Us was over, think again, because it has now roped in yet another player in the form of Taylor Swift’s father.
According to a source who spoke to the Daily Mail, it was the pop star’s dad, Scott Swift, who made the bombshell revelation that Blake Lively had threatened to leak her private texts with Taylor amid her ongoing legal woes with Justin Baldoni.
If that info dump sounds a little confusing, let me clear things up.
Earlier this month, Baldoni’s lawyer, Bryan Freedman, claimed in a letter to a judge that Lively had threatened to release her private messages with Swift if the singer didn’t publicly support her during her ongoing feud with Baldoni.
At the time, Freedman alleged in court documents that Lively’s lawyer, Michael Gottlieb, “demanded that [Swift] release a statement of support for [Lively], intimating that, if [Swift] refused to do so, private text messages of a personal nature in Lively’s possession would be released.”
Doubling down on the allegation, Freedman then claimed he knew of Lively’s supposed threat from a “person very closely linked” to Swift.
While that source was a mystery at the time, it’s now reported that Scott was the one who approached Freedman with intel around Lively’s interactions with his daughter.
“Scott Swift did not want his daughter to be dragged into this any further”, an insider claimed.
Apparently, Scott gave the information to Baldoni’s legal team on the proviso that they would remove Taylor from any future involvement in the legal feud between Lively and Baldoni.
“[Scott] voluntarily gave up this information as part of a deal that would include [Baldoni’s team] withdrawing their subpoena for Taylor,” the source said.
Reports of Scott’s involvement in the drama come after the subpoena issued to his daughter was dropped last week, with a judge describing allegations that Lively extorted Taylor as “improper” and “irrelevant”.
As for how Swift is even attached to the mess, Baldoni’s team claimed in their original lawsuit that Lively used the pop star to assert creative control over It Ends With Us, which was directed by Baldoni and co-starred Lively, and is the source of the allegations made by both parties.
It’s the kind of mess that my parents would annoyingly tell me to clean up, but unlike Taylor, I don’t think my dad knows any celebrity lawyers.
