‘The Bold And The Beautiful’ Leaving Television City After 38 Years, Will Continue To Film In Los Angeles

EXCLUSIVE: Production of The Bold and the Beautiful is on the move. The venerable CBS daytime drama, which has called Television City home since its 1987 launch, will leave the Los Angeles mid-city studio complex, which is embarking on a multi-year, billion-dollar renovation and expansion.
The series is not leaving the city though, keeping its Los Angeles-based crew employed amid industry-wide efforts to keep production in California. It is relocating just a few miles north-east to Sunset Las Palmas Studios. Production at the new location is scheduled to begin on August 19, after the show returns from summer hiatus.
“It’s been an extraordinary 38 years at Television City, where we have produced over 9,600 episodes of The Bold and the Beautiful,” head writer and executive producer Bradley Phillip Bell said. “As we look ahead, we’re excited to begin this next chapter at Sunset Las Palmas Studios —c ontinuing our production in the heart of Hollywood and the great state of California.”
Produced by Bell-Phillip Television Productions, The Bold and the Beautiful earlier this spring was renewed for three more seasons, through 2027-28.
The Bold and the Beautiful was among several shows filming at Television City to stay on after CBS Corp. sold the studio complex to Hackman Capital Partners in 2019. As their leases have came up, the shows have relocated one by one as Hackman has being going through approvals on their $1 billion plan for the facility amid some opposition from neighboring business. The pending renovation will turn the studio space into a construction zone for about three years.
Another longtime Television City tenant, The Price Is Right, left in 2023 for Glendale. The Bold and the Beautiful’s lease on the stages it has occupied for almost four decades came up this year, explaining the timing of the move.
Sunset Las Palmas is part of the Sunset Studios complex owned by Hudson Pacific Properties.
“We are honored to welcome The Bold and the Beautiful to Sunset Las Palmas, where we will deliver world-class service to ensure the entire cast and crew have an exceptional experience,” said Sean Griffin, SVP of Sales for Sunset Studios and Quixote. “Their long-term recommitment to Hollywood at this pivotal moment is an important symbol for the industry, and we hope others will follow their lead.”
A global hit and a crowd pleaser, The Bold and the Beautiful also has tackled social issues over the years, including AIDS, human rights violations, transgender acceptance, alcohol and drug abuse, the homeless crisis, and domestic violence.
