Co-written by Greengrass and Brad Inglesby, The Lost Bus is inspired by true events featured in Lizzie Johnson’s 2021 book Paradise: One Town’s Struggle to Survive an American Wildfire. Igniting in Butte County in November 2018, the Camp Fire caused 86 fatalities and burned more than 150,000 acres.

The Lost Bus is the story of quiet heroism — of people coming together in the face of the unthinkable. I’m honored to have been entrusted with this story,” said Greengrass.

The Lost Bus is produced by Ingelsby, Gregory Goodman, Jason Blum for Blumhouse Productions and Jamie Lee Curtis for Comet Pictures, with Johnson executive producing.
