Inter Milan’s Serie A clash with Cremonese was halted on Sunday after goalkeeper Emil Audero was shockingly struck by a firework shortly after half time.
The Cremonese shot-stopper, 29, fell to the floor after a firecracker exploded near him in the 49-minute, making a loud explosion and filling the air with white smoke.
The referee was forced to stop the game temporarily as Audero received treatment from medical staff.
With the goalkeeper visibly shaken, Inter’s players and head coach Cristian Chivu rushed over and gestured to fans not to throw any more projectiles onto the pitch.
The flare, which appeared to have been thrown from the end housing Inter Milan supporters, left Audero with a small cut and burn mark on his leg.
He was able to continue the game, which Inter went on to win 2-0 thanks to goals from Lautaro Martinez and Piotr Zielinski.

According to reports from Italian newspapers La Gazzetta dello Sport and Corriere della Sera on Monday morning, the fan who launched the firework in the direction of Audero lost three fingers when throwing a second flare soon after.
It is claimed the supporter was identified because he arrived at a hospital in Cremona with a nasty hand injury, having damaged three of his fingers.
He has reportedly been arrested and banned from stadiums, although it is claimed all Inter Milan fans could be suspended from attending away matches by the authorities.
The Serie A giants are also likely to receive a hefty fine at the very least.
Fortunately, no significant harm was done to any players featuring during the match.
Jamie Vardy, who completed his move to Cremonese after leaving Leicester City at the end of last season, played the full 90 minutes at the Stadio Giovanni Zini, going head-to-head with former Manchester City defender Manuel Akanji.
