The truth behind the little boy Bad Bunny included in Super Bowl halftime show after fans claim he was taken by ICE

Bad Bunny fans were shocked to find out the boy who received a Grammy from the artist during the Super Bowl halftime show was not Liam Conejo Ramos, the five-year-old who was detained by ICE agents last month.

During a brief tender moment during the Super Bowl halftime show, the Puerto Rican rapper placed his hand on a young boy’s head and handed him a trophy.

Eagle-eyed fans said they were convinced the child was Conejo Ramos, and that the move was a subtle dig at Donald Trump’s aggressive deportation policies.

Huffington Post reporter Philip Lewis later identified him as child actor Lincoln Fox from Costa Mesa, California.

Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officials detained Conejo Ramos along with his father Adrian Conejo Ramos in Minneapolis on January 20.

The duo were initially held at an ICE facility in Texas, but they were released this week after a judge ordered they be returned to Minnesota.

Images of Conejo Ramos and his father being taken away by agents pulled on the heartstrings of Americans, and many demanded their release.

Fans believed that Bad Bunny, 31, who said ‘ICE Out’ during his Grammy acceptance speech last weekend, was making a second political statement against the agency with the child at his halftime show.

‘Wait hold up… Did Bad Bunny just give his Grammy to Liam Conejo Ramos the poor kid who was kidnapped by ICE?’ one viewer wrote on X. ‘If so, amazing.’

‘I’m gonna assume the little boy given the Grammy was Liam Conejo Ramos. If he is, Bad Bunny just became a hero for me,’ another X user wrote.

A third person called the moment ‘beautiful’ while another called it ‘adorable’.

Others also pointed out that a sign reading ‘Conejo’ was visible during Bad Bunny’s performance moments before the child came into view, although the word also means ‘bunny rabbit’ in Spanish.

Other fans said they believed the child was intended to represent the rapper’s younger self, as he was dressed in similar clothing to Bad Bunny in his youth.

Lincoln lives in Southern California with his baby sister and his parents who are Argentinian and Egyptian.

On the little boy’s Instagram page, viewers of the show asked him directly about the meaning of his appearance.

‘So it wasn’t Liam Ramos like a lot of social media were claiming?’ one user asked.

‘Nope, it’s me!’, five-year-old Lincoln replied.

‘Were you playing the role of little Bad Bunny? Liam Ramos? A random child? I’m curious!’ another asked.

‘The imagery made the point. It’s all of it. Children having hope seeing representation, and symbolic of Liam,’ replied another user, taking over the conversation.

‘That environment would be too overwhelming for a 5yo just severely traumatized. This was the safer and ethical choice. It made the point too.’

Others also took a deeper meaning away from the gesture.

‘When I saw that scene, I took it mean any Latino child sitting at home watching & knowing it could be them,’ added another user.

The musician’s halftime also delighted viewers with surprise appearances from Lady Gaga and Pedro Pascal.

They performed at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, California, where the Seattle Seahawks and the New England Patriots faced off in the NFL championship final.

However, not everyone was thrilled by Bad Bunny’s central role in the halftime show.

President Donald Trump said he would be skipping the Super Bowl this year over the decision to feature Bad Bunny at halftime.

White House press secretary Leavitt was asked whether Trump’s Mar-a-Lago watch party would tune in to Bad Bunny at halftime or Kid Rock, who will be performing at Turning Point USA’s own halftime show.

Leavitt said: ‘I think the president would much prefer a kid Rock performance over Bad Bunny. I must say that.’

The rapper’s political statement at the Grammys also inspired protesters to demonstrate against ICE outside the Super Bowl ahead of his show.

Bad Bunny did not address the MAGA backlash during a Super Bowl press conference in San Francisco ahead of his performance, but insisted ‘the world’ would be happy after his 13-minute show.

‘The world is going to be happy this Sunday, (as well as) the whole country,’ he said. ‘There’s a lot of people that love me around the world, not just the Latino people.

‘To be on the biggest stage in the world is something that I never thought (possible).

‘You always have to be proud of who you are and feel comfortable being yourself, being proud about your history and where you are from and don’t let that limit yourself.

‘A lot of people stop me at the street or the airport, Americans in the United States, Mexico, French and say “I know you’re going to do a great performance at the Super Bowl.”‘

Another anti-MAGA band, Green Day, also performed at the show.
