The untouched corner of the winter sales no one else is shopping – if you’re planning a summer holiday for 2026, now is the time to snap up cheap and stylish swimwear

From hotels to flights to travel insurance, a holiday can get seriously expensive. So, we’re always on the lookout for ways to save money where possible. If you feel the same then you’ll want to check out the winter sales that are taking place currently. While your summer getaway might feel too far off to even think about right now, there’s never been a better time to start planning if you’re looking to save some serious money. 

It goes without saying that, at this time of year, all we can think about is buying chunky knitwear and cosy coats. However, you’d be better off bypassing these (with so many people looking for the same things, they’re always out of stock anyway) and instead stocking up on summer-ready swimwear. 

As these categories aren’t considered that desirable to shop this time of year, they often see some of the best discounts – think 50% or even 60% reductions. Plus, with less people shopping them, it’s more likely that you’ll be able to find your size in the pieces you love. 

High street stores, such as Very, John Lewis and M&S are great places to look for styles that won’t break the bank. But it’s also a great time to treat yourself to an expensive style that you might not otherwise be able to afford. Selfridges, Flannels and Farfetch are great places to look for designer bargains.  

It’s important to note, as with any sale shopping, it’s only worth buying something if you think you would genuinely use it. It’s not a bargain if you don’t end up wearing it, after all. When you’re looking so far in advance, it’s easy to fall into the trap of buying something over-the-top that wouldn’t normally be what you’d pick. Instead, keep to classic styles in colours and shapes that you like to guarantee that you’ll still love them when your holiday finally comes round.
