There’s An ‘Awkward Walk-Off’ On The Block This Week & It Sounds Pretty Damn Intense

It’s not just timber shortages and budget blow-outs rattling The Block this season! The friendship breakdowns are going just as hard.

In what insiders are calling “the most awkward walk-off since a MAFS dinner party”, WA cops Britt and Taz straight-up blanked Alicia and Sonny and their family during the reunion in Daylesford last week.

According to our insider, the icy encounter went down when Alicia’s kids were on site. Instead of a polite chat, Britt and Taz reportedly turned their backs and walked off without a word. One crew member described the vibe as “so tense you could cut it with a spirit level”.

This isn’t the first time these former allies have clashed. Things have been spiralling ever since the infamous fence-spying debacle, where Sonny was caught peeking at Britt and Taz’s progress. What was once a The Block bestie alliance has now curdled into a cold war.

“Alicia and Sonny thought that it was one big The Block family but the House Three couple can not wait to see the back of House Four,” an insider told PEDESTRIAN.TV.

Producers are said to be loving every second, describing the snub as reality TV gold. But for the contestants, the fractures are very real.

“It’s family against family now,” an insider told us. “There’s no going back.”

Between the renos, the rivalries, and the full-blown Blockhead beefs, this season is shaping up to be less about building homes and more about demolishing friendships.

In fact, the drama this season has gotten so intense, that certain production insiders have been confused about whether they were shooting an episode of The Block or MAFS.

Discussing the production of a recent ep, one crew member recently told us: “It looks and feels exactly like a MAFS dinner party. At one point, I honestly thought I was working on the wrong show.”

The auction day is going to be a logistical nightmare if Britt and Taz keep up this immaturity, as the finale shoot requires a certain amount of interaction and grace between all houses.

“It might be the most awkward finale in The Block history,” the source said.

Either way it will make damn good TV.

Before the 2025 season kicked off, Executive Producer Julian Cress addressed the incoming drama and the MAFS-ification of The Block.

“It’s just a very easy thing for people to throw out. If you watch Married at First Sight and you watch The Block side by side, there’s not a chance that The Block’s going to become Married at First Sight,” he said.

Still, he admitted there was at least one spicy moment that could pass the MAFS vibe check.

“Did we have a moment OR two that could have been something that could have happened on Married at First Sight? Sure… but we’ve also done a thousand episodes,” he admitted.
