Timothée Chalamet Subjected The PR Team Of His New Movie To 18 Minutes Of Pure Chaos

Timothée Chalamet has left folks scratching their heads after sharing a rather interesting clip in which he suggests bizarre promotional ideas for his new movie Marty Supreme

The actor dropped the lengthy clip on social media earlier today. It sees him join a Zoom meeting with the marketing team at A24, the studio behind his upcoming movie co-starring Gwyneth Paltrow.

Across 18 minutes (yep, 18 damn minutes), Chalamet fires off an array of puzzling and unrealistic ideas to promote Marty Supreme, like painting the Statue of Liberty and Eiffel Tower orange, dropping ping-pong balls on attendees at Tyler, The Creator’s music festival Camp Flog Gnaw, and perusing around in a giant orange blip.

“Everywhere you go, Marty Supreme blimp,” Chalamet tells the team, who appear either partly confused, completely baffled, or otherwise unimpressed. “I don’t want to personally get in [the blimp] because I have a fear of flying,” the actor added.

As you might be able to tell, it seems the clip is purposefully satirical and that everyone is in on the joke. At one point, Chalamet gloats about doing “amazing movie, after amazing movie, after amazing movie”, and in another moment that’s destined to become a catchphrase, he repeats the gibberish exclamation, “shwep!”.

What does it mean? Well, it’s anyone’s guess, and fans have taken to social media to express either their adoration or confusion around Chalamet’s antics.

“I’ve seen multiple people on TikTok not realise that Chalamet was doing a bit and are saying he’s on a power trip,” one user wrote on X, while another said they “think Chalamet is like really insane”.

“Timothée Chalamet’s commitment to the bit needs to be studied. I fear nobody has committed to the bit at this level before,” a third user quipped.

Fans of Chalamet might already expect these kinds of hijinks from the actor. Earlier this year, he arrived at the London premiere of his film A Complete Unknown on a Lime Bike and later copped a fine as a result.

Elsewhere, he channelled Troye Sivan for a hilarious skit on Saturday Night Live, and made an appearance at his very own lookalike contest in New York City. All of that without even mentioning his digital footprint, which includes live performances of Nicki Minaj tracks and at least one email exchange with Shia LaBeouf

He added to these savvy marketing manoeuvres with the 18-minute Zoom meeting clip, and if its purpose was to get folks talking, he passed with flying colours.
