Transfer news live: Eze deal completed, Man Utd in talks over goalkeeper, Isak to Liverpool update

Jorgen Strand Larsen emerges as Newcastle option
Newcastle are having difficulty trying to sign Yoane Wissa from Brentford and have now been linked with a move for Wolves striker and Norway international Jorgen Strand Larsen, who is valued at £60m.
Newcastle want to a striker regardless of whether Alexander Isak leaves and will only consider letting last season’s top scorer depart if they sign at least two replacements.

Thomas Frank only wants players who want to wear ‘fantastic badge’ of Tottenham
Thomas Frank has brushed off Tottenham’s failure to sign Eberechi Eze by insisting he only wants players who want to wear the “fantastic badge” of the club.
Spurs were all set to capture Eze after reaching an agreement with Crystal Palace on Wednesday for a £60million plus £7.5m in extras deal until Arsenal hijacked the transfer of the England international, who has previously revealed he was a boyhood fan of the Gunners.

Nathan Ake to Everton?
Everton are interested in signing Manchester City defender Nathan Ake, according to the Daily Mail.
Pep Guardiola has boosted his defence with the signing of left back Rayan Ait-Nouri and with John Stones returning from injury.
Ake now faces competition for his place from Stones, Ruben Dias, Manuel Akanji and Josko Gvardiol, so may be surplus to requirements.

Mikel Arteta says Arsenal’s move for Eberechi Eze move is not a reaction to Kai Havertz injury
Mikel Arteta has asserted that Arsenal’s impending £60 million acquisition of Eberechi Eze is not a knee-jerk reaction to Kai Havertz’s recent knee injury.
News of Havertz’s injury reportedly accelerated Arsenal’s pursuit of Eze, with the deal for the Crystal Palace star set to take their summer spending to an eye-watering £250 million. Eze is understood to have undergone his medical on Friday, with his transfer to the north London club potentially finalised this weekend.
While Arteta stopped short of confirming Eze’s arrival, he firmly denied that the club’s recent transfer activity was a direct response to Havertz’s setback.

Mikel Arteta: Arsenal’s transfer business has put big smiles on our faces
Mikel Arteta admitted he is walking around with a huge smile on his face after assembling what he now believes is the best squad of his Arsenal reign.
Eberechi Eze’s imminent £60million arrival from Crystal Palace will take Arsenal’s spending spree to £250m amid a summer of transformation at the Emirates.
Eze, who it is understood underwent a medical at Arsenal on Friday, is set to become the club’s seventh new arrival with competition for places now fierce across the pitch.
And when asked if he is now armed with the most complete squad of his near seven-year tenure, Arteta replied: “In terms of numbers and quality, yes for sure.
“When you shake the tree and bring in more players there are always things that can happen.”

The deep-seated issue that explains West Ham’s worrying decline
“You can write what you want, at any time,” Graham Potter said, when asked if this is already a relegation battle. He admitted he “knows his responsibilities” when asked about his future.
From that, you could of course write at least some of the good from this 5-1 – like Joao Pedro’s supreme impact and how Chelsea might have now started a proper challenge.
Except, it’s impossible not to get away from the bad. And this was very bad from West Ham United, to the point that Potter looks in immediate danger. Might he even be gone before Nuno Espirito Santo? Could the Nottingham Forest manager replace him, given issues there?
