Trent Alexander-Arnold’s expected replacement Jeremie Frimpong SNUBS Liverpool star  – as brutal clip goes viral

Netherlands defender Jeremie Frimpong would sell Trent Alexander-Arnold if given the choice between three of Europe’s top right-backs, resurfaced footage has revealed.

The clip – which appears to be from the start of this season – has been getting attention on social media amid Liverpool’s interest in the 24-year-old, and shows Frimpong playing the viral game ‘start, bench, sell’.

Faced with choosing between Real Madrid veteran Dani Carvajal, Paris Saint-Germain star Achraf Hakimi and Alexander-Arnold, Frimpong gave the Spaniard the nod above all.

‘He’s a champion,’ said the Bayer Leverkusen speedster by way of justification for his selection. ‘I would bench Hakimi, I play like him a little bit you know.

‘And then obviously I’d sell Trent. It’s the game, you know.’

Frimpong looks set to fill Alexander-Arnold’s boots at Anfield from next season following the Scouser’s announcement that he would be leaving his boyhood club when his deal expires at the end of the term.

Frimpong would be very keen on a move to Liverpool should the Premier League champions decide to step up their drive.

He has a release clause of €35million (around £29.5m) in his contract at the German club and is highly expected to be on the move. Frimpong is on Liverpool’s shortlist and they like his profile should they decide to recruit in that position this summer.

Reports in Germany have said it is close to a done deal but Mail Sport understands that is not the case just yet and suggestions that Frimpong held talks with Liverpool on Monday afternoon have also been denied by sources close to the player.

But the former Manchester City academy player, who also played for Celtic, is open to a move to the Premier League this summer.

The Netherlands international won the league and cup double with Leverkusen last season.

He previously won the Scottish Premiership, Scottish Cup and League Cup with Celtic in the 2019-20 campaign.

Since joining Leverkusen in 2021, Frimpong has played 190 times for the German club, while he has scored 30 goals and has provided 44 assists.
