Trump and Melania land in the UK hand-in-hand for historic second state visit and talks with the King and Kate Middleton

The first lady sported a trench coat from British designer Burberry and black riding boots as she and the president were greeted by the Viscount Hood, Lord-in-Waiting, on behalf of King Charles and the U.S.’s Chief of Protocol Monica Crowley.
‘We just had a good flight, a lot of people came with us. Tomorrow’s going to be a very big day,’ the president said upon arriving at Winfield House, the U.S. ambassador’s residence in London, where he and the first lady will overnight.
‘I love it,’ he remarked, when asked how it felt to be back in the U.K. ‘I love Turnberry, I love Aberdeen,’ naming the locales of his golf clubs. ‘I have a lot of things here that – they warm my heart, I want to tell you. It’s a very special place.’
They’ll spend Wednesday being feted by King Charles and other members of the royal family, with Charles likely to press the American president on support for Ukraine and environmentalism.
Beyond the royal visit, Trump will meet Thursday with British Prime Minister Keir Starmer, who’s also become politically plagued by the late pedophile Jeffrey Epstein.
Starmer fired the U.K.’s ambassador to the U.S., Peter Mandelson, after additional details came out about Mandelson’s warm friendship with Epstein, which continued even after the financier pleaded guilty in 2008 to prostitution charges.
Trump has denied that he’s the author of a salacious letter the Wall Street Journal first reported was included in a 2003 birthday book for Epstein, when the late pedophile was celebrating his 50th birthday.

Tiffany Trump, the president’s daughter with Marla Maples, and her husband Michael Boulos joined the president and first lady on Air Force One.
For the 2019 trip, all of the president’s adult children and their spouses joined the American delegation but Tiffany and Boulos weren’t married yet so he wasn’t included.
Melania Trump skipped her husband’s trip to the Middle East in mid-May – where Saudi Arabia, Qatar and the United Arab Emirates treated Trump to a state dinner each night – so Wednesday’s visit to Windsor Castle will mark her first state visit appearance of the president’s second term.
Her only other international trip this term has been to Italy for Pope Francis’ funeral in late April.
The president visited Scotland in July so the 48-hour trip this week marks his second trip to the United Kingdom this term.
On board Air Force One, Trump gushed about the expected pageantry awaiting him.
‘Enjoy yourselves. You’re going to have some great pictures today,’ he told reporters. ‘It’s going to be a beautiful event. Everyone’s looking forward to it. And we’ll just relax and have a good time.’
Both the president and the first lady have a well-documented adoration for the royal family.

‘He’s been a friend of mine for a long time. And everybody respects him; and they love him,’ Trump said of King Charles outside of Winfield House Tuesday night.
Following Queen Elizabeth’s death in 2022, Trump called their two meetings during his first term ‘one of the most extraordinary honors of my life,’ and said the two leaders ‘got along wonderfully,’ in an op-ed penned for the Daily Mail.
In her memoir, Melania, the first lady wrote warmly about Charles, even commending the monarch for his ‘deep-rooted commitment to environmental conservatism.’
Queen Elizabeth hosted the Trumps at Windsor Castle in 2018 and then for a full state visit at Buckingham Palace a year later.
Buckingham Palace is undergoing renovations so isn’t being used for this state visit, though American flags were on display in front of it Tuesday ahead of Trump’s arrival.
Outside of Windsor, protesters and some supporters had gathered on Tuesday afternoon.
Demonstrators held up signs including ‘fascists not welcome,’ ‘elect a rapist expect to get f***ed’ and ‘we smell your’ followed by hand-drawn poop.
On Wednesday the president and first lady will arrive at Windsor Castle for a whole day of pomp and programming, meeting not only with King Charles and Queen Camilla but also with Prince William and Princess Kate.

The Trumps will be greeted by William and Kate, who will take them to meet the king and queen.
They’ll be treated to a carriage ride around the premises. Later a flyover.
The day will conclude with a highly anticipated state dinner, where the first lady will likely transform into what Free, Melania author Kate Bennett dubbed ‘Lady Melania’ mode – hair up, gloves on and often sporting Christian Dior.
On Thursday, Melania will have a solo moment – first touring Mary’s Dolls’ House, the world’s most famous dollhouse, and the Royal Library at Windsor Castle with Camilla.
She’ll then join Kate at Frogmore Gardens to meet TV personality Dwayne Fields, who is serving as Chief Scout for the Scout Association.
Melania and Kate will watch as a group of 4-to 6-year-old Squirrel Scouts learn about nature and work toward their ‘Go Wild’ badge.
The president will peel off and head to Chequers – the U.K.’s equivalent to Camp David – to meet with Starmer.
They’ll conclude the trip with a joint press conference.
The president’s trip comes less than a week after one of his top MAGA allies, Turning Point USA founder Charlie Kirk, was shockingly shot and killed at a speaking event on a college campus in Utah.
On Air Force One, Trump confirmed that after he returns to the U.S. on Thursday he will head to Arizona for Kirk’s funeral on Sunday.
