Ukraine-Russia war latest: Putin will take revenge for Kyiv’s drone attack, warns Trump after phone call

US president Donald Trump has warned his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin will respond to Ukraine’s Operation Spiderweb after the two leaders spoke on a phone call for around one hour and 15 minutes yesterday.
Mr Trump says Mr Putin told him “very strongly” that Russia “will have to respond” to the audacious Ukrainian drone attack last weekend that wiped out a significant portion of Moscow’s fleet of bomber jets, and that there will be “no immediate peace” in Ukraine.
However, Volodymyr Zelensky has warned that Russia must not be allowed to “blur reality or mislead the world”, shortly before Mr Trump announced he had spoken to the Russian president.
Kyiv said it attacked airfields in Siberia and Russia’s far north over the weekend, striking targets up to 2,670 miles from the front lines of the conflict and destroyed or damaged 41 Russian aircraft.
Following the attack and the underwater explosion of Kerch bridge, Russian officials claimed that military options were “on the table” for its response, while accusing the West of being involved in the Ukrainian operations.
