It’s no secret that this year’s Australian Fashion Week was jam-packed with influencer drama. However, in a hilarious turn of events, it appears that a bunch of content creators and fashionistas might’ve been pranked on the last day of fashion festivities.
For folks who’ve never indulged in Australian Fashion Week, Australian designers showcase their upcoming collections, to an eager of audience of editors, buyers, fashion insiders, celebrities, and — more recently — influencers.
But amongst all the fashionista activities, it appears that someone has pulled a stunt to goop influencers and fashion lovers who were keen on seeing some groundbreaking looks.
Fashion and textile designer Rachel Johnston took to TikTok to reveal that she might’ve been pranked by someone who was posing as an up-and-coming designer.
“I’m officially back from Sydney Fashion Week, but you guys are gonna laugh at me… but I’m pretty sure I got pranked,” she began in her TikTok, which has now clocked more than 16.8K views.
“While I was there, I got invited by a small, emerging designer label who are launching their brand at the end of Fashion Week, and they were hosting an event that was meant to be closing out — like an after-party sort of thing,” she continued.
“[It] wasn’t really clear on the invite what it actually was until I got there and I realised that it was going to be a runway show. So I was like, ‘cool’… We had no idea really what was going on. We were just going with the flow, but when I tell you, nothing could have prepared me for what came down the runway.”
The video then cuts to snippets of the fashion show, which included a model wearing a Skibidi Toilet-inspired look, another wearing a bike cut in half and another wearing an upside-down mermaid tail blanket. It was truly bonkers, yet iconic!

“That’s how my fashion week closed out, pretty sure it was a prank,” Rachel continued.
“If you see me in a YouTube video in the next few weeks, mind your business. No, but anyways, if it wasn’t a prank, then I’m very sorry.”
At the time of writing, no one has fessed up to the cheeky runway shenanigans. However, Rachel spilled more details about the mystery show, revealing that interviews were taken after the show.
“They also did an interview with me on the way out and asked what my fav look was, I panicked and said the toilet,” she shared in the comments section.

In response to the bamboozling sight, the Australian Fashion Council (AFC) — who ran Australian Fashion Week 2025 in partnership with Destination NSW — simply put a thinking emoji, hinting that this was something that wasn’t on its radar.

BRB, I need to know where that Skibidi Toilet look is from ASAP! It’s so chic!
