The Briton is searching for confidence once more, but, after a second-round win over Anastasia Zakharova on Friday, there are encouraging signs with a clean game won with just four dropped games in under 90 minutes en route to that 6-1, 6-3 victory.
And No 6 seed Anisimova showed signs of vulnerability in a chaotic match against Anna Blinkova, too, with the world No 94 taking the first set as the pair swapped seven breaks of serve.
But the American showed her class by rattling off 12 of the next 13 games, ending the contest with a run of nine straight to round out a 5-7, 6-1, 6-0 victory in one hour and 39 minutes.

When and where is the match?
Raducanu v Anisimova is on Sunday 8 March with the third-round Indian Wells contest at Indian Wells Tennis Garden, California taking place at 9:30pm GMT (2:30pm PT).
The match will be third on Stadium 2, with play due to start at 6pm GMT (11am PT). The first match up is Brandon Nakashima v Alexander Zverev, followed by Camila Osorio v Naomi Osaka.
