What’s Nicole Kidman’s husband Keith Urban done to his face? As country star, 57, unveils snatched new look at award show – plastic surgeons say they know his secret

While his wife Nicole Kidman may have stolen the limelight, Keith Urban also turned a few heads at this year’s Country Music Awards.

The Australian-American singer and guitarist debuted a snatched new look at the event in Texas earlier this week.

Now, plastic surgeons have told MailOnline the 57-year-old’s rejuvenated face may be thanks to a series of masterfully done aesthetic augmentations. 

Plastic surgeon Dr Fadi Hamadani said: ‘Keith Urban’s look has definitely raised eyebrows—in the best way.’

Comparing the singer’s appearance this week with images taken 18 months ago, Dr Hamadani said: ‘His jawline is sharper, his skin appears tighter, and there’s an overall lift that suggests he may have turned to some clever tweakments.’

He continued: ‘One likely option is FaceTite Turbo, a minimally invasive procedure that uses radiofrequency energy to melt fat and tighten sagging skin, particularly around the lower face and neck.’

‘It’s often chosen by male celebrities wanting a more defined jaw without surgery.

‘Pairing this with a form of micro-needling that boosts de-ageing collagen could explain the firmer, smoother texture we’re seeing.’

These treatments involve using radio waves and tiny needles to heat and injure layers of skin.

This prompts tissue to produce more collagen, the building block of skin, and elastin—a protein that gives skin its plump and flexibility, resulting in an age-reversing healing process. 

Dr Hamadani added that Keith may have had some other non-surgical treatments to enhance his skin.

‘It’s possible he’s had a few rejuvenation treatments, such as laser resurfacing or chemical peels, to even out skin tone and boost radiance,’ he said.

‘A bit of wrinkle-relaxing treatment (like Botox) around the eyes or forehead would help soften expression lines, and subtle dermal filler could restore volume in areas like the cheeks or temples without altering his natural features.’

Fillers are artificial substances injected into the face that add volume, helping smooth out lines and wrinkles. 

Regardless of the specifics of the work, Dr Hamadani paid tribute to the overall result.

‘The result is a more sculpted, refreshed version of himself- he kind of tweakment journey that prioritises subtle enhancements and skin quality over anything too drastic,’ he said.

Mr Kshem Yapa, a London-based consultant plastic surgeon, told MailOnline that the potential secret to Keith’s good looks is a ‘less is more’ approach to aesthetics. 

‘I don’t think he has had a huge amount of plastic surgery to maintain his appearance,’ he said.

‘He naturally has a strong jawline and neck contour and in men this goes a long way to maintain a youthful appearance.’

‘I suspect he may have had some non-surgical treatments like filler and Botox as wrinkle prevention or surgical fat grafting in moderation to retain some volume and look youthful.’

Mr Yapa also paid tribute to the overall result. 

‘The hallmark of good cosmetic intervention, whether it be surgical or non-surgical, is that it looks natural and that you do not carry an operated or fake look. 

‘I feel Keith Urban looks natural and so any cosmetic intervention has been chosen appropriately and conducted well.’

Keith has faced speculation that he’s had work done on his face before.   

In 2023 Dr Gary Motykie, a California-based plastic surgeon, did a before and after comparison of Keith’s face on Instagram.

He concluded that Keith had likely undergone minor improvements that, alongside a healthy lifestyle, had helped maintain his good looks. 

‘Although Keith Urban looks quite different than we he originally debuted, I don’t think he’s had a huge amount of plastic surgery,’ Dr Motykie said. 

‘I think he’s a good example of how maintaining your health, your weight and your overall lifestyle can translate into staying looking young for a longer amount of time.

‘He has a nice hairline and jawline and as long as men keep that intact they also tend to age much more gracefully.’

As for what work Keith had likely had done, Dr Motykie said these had likely focused on his skin and teeth.  

‘I do think he has had dental work to improve his smile, and it also looks like he’s probably done touch-ups…possibly fillers as a background thing to add a bit more fullness back to his face, particularly underneath his eyes and his cheeks,’ he said.

‘I also think he’s probably doing some of the more typical things that celebrities and everyday people do such as Botox, skin care, lasers, micro-needling, all of things to upkeep that healthy glow.’

Multiple experts told MailOnline hat Keith’s healthy lifestyle is likely to have enhanced the results of any cosmetic work he has had done.

The singer has revealed he is teetotal, having not touched alcohol for almost two decades.  

He previously had a very public battle with drug and alcohol abuse, which saw Nicole, 57, stage an intervention to help him get sober.

He entered rehab on several occasions, last checking himself into the Betty Ford Center in October 2006 just four months after marrying Nicole.

‘I was very, very blessed to have Nic call an intervention on me,’ Keith previously said, adding that his reckless behaviour ’caused the implosion of my fresh marriage’. 

He’s also credited the physical nature of performing on stage for keeping him in shape.

‘I love the adrenaline of a live show. I love I get to do two hours of solid cardio on stage,’ Keith told People Magazine. 

Keith added that having his trusty guitar strapped around his neck also helped keep him in top shape.

‘I’ve got a 10-pound plank of wood around my neck, and I’m singing. I love the physicality of what I do and how I get to do it.’
