A social media account documenting the life of an elementary school art teacher has gone viral – with fans convinced it’s actually the actor Kevin James.
The teacher – Matt Taylor – has garnered thousands of comments and likes on his videos from confused fans of the comedian since he started posting online at the start of October.
The account, which only follows Ed Sheeran, claims to be run by the art teacher – but not everyone is convinced he’s simply Kevin’s doppelgänger.
Matt, who calls himself ‘Mr Taylor’, posts videos to Instagram and TikTok talking about his art and students.
But some fans think the account is being run by the The King of Queens star, hypothesizing he started the account to promote his upcoming film, Solo Mio.
According to the official logline for the film, Kevin plays a man named Matt who was left at the altar in Rome and goes on his honeymoon alone. While there he ‘discovers Italy’s gorgeous landscape, culture, and people.’
However, there isn’t any mention of his character being an art teacher.
It hasn’t stopped followers from flooding the comments section of his videos to speculate over the nature of them.

‘I’m assuming this is early marketing for Solo Mio, which comes out in February. He plays a character named Matt,’ one user suggested.
‘The way you guys are LOST. Lol this is obviously Kevin James and this is clearly some kind of promo for a project he’s doing,’ chimed in another. ‘This is professionally filmed guys, come one. How is it even a question on who it is.’
‘Definitely Kevin James… the couple thing is a direct reference to Solo Mio, his movie coming out in 2026, where Matt, a teacher, is left at the altar at his wedding,’ said another convinced fan.
‘Guys, it’s method acting, he’s never gonna admit it!’ wrote someone else. ‘Get with the program… We get to spend a few months getting to know Matt before his big adventure in Solo Mio in 2026. This is the best character development I’ve ever seen. Period.’
Others were relieved to find it wasn’t just them that thought the art teacher looked familiar.
‘So it really is Kevin James? I remember the first TikTok I saw and thought immediately it was Kevin. It’s him right?!?’ one desperate comment read.
‘The fact that he never addresses or mentions the bagillion comments saying he’s Kevin James proves that he’s Kevin James,’ declared someone else.
‘I can’t sleep either knowing Mr Taylor is gaslighting me saying he’s not Kevin James,’ joked another.

In the videos, Matt often talks followers through why he became an art teacher, gushing over his students and his love of teaching them how to ‘grow.’
In one video, he spoke about art helping him to ‘calm down,’ along with a time lapsed video of him drawing a river.
In other videos, he shares tips and ideas of artwork to create, including what types of mediums and what kinds of scenes to draw.
The Daily Mail has reached out to Matt Taylor and representatives of Kevin James for comment.
Last year, the comedian looked unrecognizable on the set of Solo Mio, featuring a thick moustache and beard stubble.
Film producer Mark Fasano described the movie as a way to show audiences it’s never too late to reinvent your life.
He said: ‘Solo Mio is an incredible project that shows audiences it’s never too late to reinvent your life.’
‘Kevin is at his most vulnerable in this film and we’re fortunate to have Chuck and Dan Kinnane on board to direct.’
