Wife of Miley Cyrus’ ex forces him to listen to her music because their kids ‘deserve to know the classics’

Miley Cyrus came into Savannah Gavigan’s life like a Wrecking Ball… and her music had such an impact that she wants her kids to listen to it – even though the singer allegedly dated her now-husband.

Content creator and ex-Disney performer Savannah Gavigan shared a hilarious clip to social media recently, revealing she was a huge Hannah Montana fan growing up – and wants to share that joy with her children.

The kicker? She claimed her husband was in a relationship with the pop star when they were in middle school together before she was super famous. 

‘My toxic trait is that I force my husband to listen to his ex because our kids deserve to know the classics,’ she wrote on the video, where she lip synched along to See You Again by Cyrus.

She panned the camera over to her husband as she sang, who smiled sheepishly. 

In the caption, she said that her husband, Jesse Gavigan, grew up outside of Nashville and dated the Disney star in middle school.

‘[It was] before Hannah Montana/at the beginning of Hannah Montana until it fizzled out (as most middle school relationships do),’ she wrote.

‘It obviously wasn’t serious,’ she added. ‘But it’s still a fun fact for a girl who grew up loving Hannah Montana.’ 

In a previous video, Gavigan shared that she and Jesse married in 2016 after dating throughout college. They now share three children. 

Cyrus, 33, has had a slew of A-list exes since her Hannah Montana days, which she starred on as the titular character from 2006 to 2011. 

In September, the Flowers singer opened up about the unconventional dating advice she’s received from her mom, Tish Cyrus. 

During a candid interview with The Cut, the actress and singer sat down with Tish, 58, and her sisters Brandi, 38, and Noah, 25, to discuss love, family and the lessons they’ve carried into their relationships.

According to Cyrus, her mother had a surprising rule of thumb when it came to choosing partners.

‘Mom’s always wanted me to stay with the wrong guy ’cause they’re hot,’ she revealed, seemingly alluding to her past romance with Liam Hemsworth, whom she divorced after less than a year of marriage in 2019 after dating on and off for a decade.

Tish didn’t deny it; instead, she defended her philosophy with humor.

‘That was great advice because after so many years, you’re kind of over it,’ she said with a laugh. 

When pressed by Cyrus to clarify, she added: ‘At least you get to look at somebody that’s frigging hot!’

But while the matriarch, who married Prison Break star Dominic Purcell after her 2022 divorce from Billy Ray Cyrus, may have been joking, the Wrecking Ball singer used the moment to highlight how her own priorities shifted over time.

‘No, I ended up with a person who means a lot to me and treats me really well and respects me,’ Cyrus explained of her fiancé, Maxx Morando. 

‘I had to learn that the hard way because my mommy taught me the wrong way and then I had to learn the right way by myself.’ 

In the early years of her career, the Hannah Montana star dated Nick Jonas, Patrick Schwarzenegger and Cody Simpson.

In 2009, she confirmed her relationship with her co-star from The Last Song, Hemsworth, and the pair tied the knot in 2018 after ten years of dating.

However, they split in August 2019 and their divorce was finalized in 2020. 

Earlier in December,  Cyrus confirmed her engagement to drummer Morando, 27.  The singer has been dating Morando since 2021 following her divorce from Hemsworth.
