WNBA superstar Jonquel Jones took on the red carpet Monday night before she takes to the court later this month.
The center was one of three New York Liberty stars to take their championship victory tour to the steps of the Met Museum for the first Monday in May – six months on from claiming the WNBA title.
Jones commanded attention on the blue carpet of the Met Gala, where she was joined by many famous faces from the world of sport, including Angel Reese, Joe Burrow and Jalen Hurts.
The 2024 WNBA Finals MVP stepped onto the iconic steps in a leather-accented Sergio Hudson power suit.
However, it was her hairstyle that proved to be the truly eye-catching aspect of her look.
The Bahamian wore her braids up in a towering, gravity-defying twist upon her head. She complimented the sensational hairstyle with Jennifer Behr hair accessories with the colored gems and pearls catching the light.

The 31-year-old, who is known for bringing her style to the arena, aced this year’s Met Gala’s dress code: ‘Superfine: Tailoring Black Style.’
Jones wowed in a custom double-breasted jacket in black croc-embossed leather, designed by Sergio Hudson, who has dressed the likes of Kamala Harris and Michelle Obama in the past.
She finished off the look with a crisp white shirt, black tie and bootcut pants of the same color. Jones accessorized with a pair of circular blackout shades and a bejeweled broach on her lapel.
Fans went wild for her look on social media with many claiming that Jones, the No. 6 overall pick in the 2016 WNBA Draft, ‘crushed’ it.
‘She ateeeee,’ one said, while another added: ‘JJ, you pulled it off!’
While a third claimed they ‘love’ the look, another raved: ‘It’s very Met Gala, so okay JJ!’
‘Came in, showed the barber a picture of an exclamation point. Barber says, “say no more, I got you,”’ one social media user joked.
Jones wasn’t the only WNBA star to grace the carpet this year. She was joined by her Liberty teammates Sabrina Ionescu and Breanna Stewart, as well as team co-owner Clara Wu Tsai to celebrate the annual spectacle of fashion.

The Liberty champions coordinated in black and white outfits designed by Sergio Hudson.
Stewart and Ionescu joined Jones in power suits. The former, who added a third WNBA championship to her resume last fall, sported an all-ivory look in a crisp tuxedo adding flair with a cape and wide-brimmed Monrowe hat.
Meanwhile, Ionescu put a spin on the classic tailoring, pairing a black tailcoat tuxedo jacket over a white cream crop top and black floor-length skirt.
Tsai opted for a simple, strapless black gown finished with a white lace trimming at the bottom.
The Liberty begin their title defense on May 17 when they host the Las Vegas Aces – who they lost to in the 2023 Finals – at Barclays Center.
They will return to preseason action this Friday when they take on the Connecticut Sun.
