Zohran Mamdani enlists wife of Mets star Francisco Lindor to join his inaugural committee

The wife of Mets superstar Francisco Lindor has been included on Zohran Mamdani’s inaugural committee as he prepares to take over as mayor of New York City.

The Democrat, who beat Andrew Cuomo in a bitterly-contested election earlier this year, is slated to take over as mayor on New Year’s Day.

As reported by CBS news, Mamdani has named a 48-strong group of ‘people from across fields and communities… New Yorkers whose creativity, leadership and lived experience reflect the full life of the city.’

The committee includes playwrights, novelists, actors, musicians, comedians and Katia Reguero Lindor.

She hosts the Unaparent Podcast, a bilingual show that ‘debunks parenting myths and provides a safe, non-judgmental space for parents and parents-to-be.’

Back in September, the wife of New York’s All-Star shortstop also played her violin in a poignant rendition of the national anthem before the Mets-Padres game.

Lindor, who shares three children with the baseball star, will now be tasked with working as part of Mamdani’s committee to host his January 1 inauguration at City Hall.

Reports earlier this month claimed that politics – specifically views on Donald Trump – caused friction between Lindor and his teammate Brandon Nimmo.

Now his wife will be involved in the inauguration of Mamdani, who said in a statement: ‘Our city’s artists, thinkers, organizers, and activists have shaped what New York looks, sounds, and feels like.’

‘This is a celebration of the movement that made this victory possible, and the beginning of a new dawn for our city.

‘I could not be more excited to share this moment with these committee members and with New Yorkers across the five boroughs.’
