EU declares ‘exorbitant economic cost’ for Russia in case of action against Ukraine

EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Josep Borrell said that at the summit on December 16, EU heads of state and government will discuss possible actions of the community in coordination with the United States in the event of “Russian aggression against Ukraine”.

All ministers were clear that any aggression against Ukraine would have political consequences and a heavy economic cost for Russia. We coordinate closely with our partners across the Atlantic. This topic is still important on our agenda and will be discussed at the EU Summit on Thursday.
