Almaty airport closed indefinitely

Sputnik Kazakhstan reported that Almaty airport will be closed indefinitely.

Earlier it was reported that amid the unrest, the airport in the city will be closed until midnight on January 9.

The riots have not subsided for several days in Almaty. The rioters managed to take control of several administrative buildings and the airport. Since January 6, the anti-terrorist operation began in the city, and the army, including the CSTO unit, was brought into the city.
Security forces managed to take control of the airport only two days later – on January 7.

Shops in Almaty were once again looted. And still shooting continues in the city.

The curfew in the Almaty region is now in effect from 20.00 to 7:00.
